hello everyone ! i’m frankie ( or francheska ) and i’m SO thrilled to be a part of growhq. this is my semi new baby / love of my life , ashraf & i’m hoping , y’all love him as much as i do. although i’ve just recently put him together , not too long ago , i’m eager to write him out. i am absolutely terrible when it comes to describing my characters but i’ll try my very best. he means well though ! don’t really know what else to say about myself but if you’d like to plot / even chat , my d*scord is : farrokh bulsara#7928 . i’m still trying to get the hang of it , but please feel free to add me on there. please love us & thank you for taking the time in reading this pretty lame introduction. ♡
ashraf was born in 1982 on a cool, mild winter night in alexandria, egypt. his parents, bassam and virina, were delighted to have started a family by welcoming their first-born in their motherland. when he was an infant, the boutros family emigrated to the united states : brooklyn, new york, to be exact. ash is a PROUD egyptian, fluent in arabic and was recently granted american citizenship.
“there’s no first-generation, or second-generation removed. i am egyptian.” rami malek, 2018 ( tell ‘em , rami or ash ! )
throughout his life, ashraf was raised to be a devout coptic christian and still tries to be to this day. however, he rarely goes to church as he occasionally tags along with his family whenever he’s back in brooklyn on certain holidays. he isn’t obligated but is expected to go … and does since he’s one (1) blessed man, avoids getting on his parents’ bad side.
he doesn’t take off the ring that was given to him by his mother, ever. well, if he does, you’ll find him wearing it on a chain around his neck.
growing up in brooklyn was memorable. he had a good group of friends ( they went to college together ) shockingly enough, but due to their lives becoming hectic, they lost contact with each other. *whispers* he needs friends.
he graduated from high school and university with a bachelor’s degree: majoring in art, art history, archeology, and museum studies. he did everything he could to be able to work with a museum’s board of directors. in order to earn his bachelor’s, ashraf had to complete volunteer work at any of the fine arts museums of maine — anywhere that he could — to get first-hand experience.
at around 27 years old, he decided to go up east to portland, maine. he would have stopped in massachusetts but after visiting portland one time during college with his friends ( road-tripping ), ashraf decided to come back since he fell in love with the city. he had a hard time picturing himself someplace else.
he discovered his appreciation and love for art since he was in middle school in brooklyn. although his parents thought it was a rare career choice since they had wanted him to become a doctor instead, they supported him no matter what.
i’m shit at describing a character’s personality, and thank god the app didn’t include them when i applied, so i’m pretty open-minded about ash. just a heads up !
but getting him out of the house will be a task , because 1) he’s a bit introverted and 2) a damn workaholic.
“I’m in love with him,” he says. “To the end of his life, Freddie lived completely in the moment and never got boxed into any particular label, which I so respect. People constantly tried to pin him down as this type or that, but he’d always say, ‘I’m just being me.’ Freddie being Freddie will forever be an inspiration to all of us.”
