WHAT IS BE MORE CHILL?

Although you're probably already a BMC fan if you're looking through this blog, I'll give a brief description for the people who are just here for posts that look cool XD

"Be More Chill" is a musical written by Joe Iconis and based on a book with the same name by Ned Vizzini. Both versions follow Jeremy Heere, a teenage loser who's just trying to survive high school and impress his crush, Christine Canigula. Everything changes, though, when his bully (Rich Goranski) offers to give him a pill that would change his life. The story then follows Jeremy as he makes horrible life choices :D

WHAT IS BE LESS CHILL?

"Be Less Chill" is a roleswap AU created by yours truly! Essentially, "what if the SQUIP were actually a cool teenager who needed help being more approachable?" The story follows teenager Keanu Quantum, a young boy who's simply too cool for his own good. Too intimidating and aloof for any of his peers to truly connect with, Keanu decides to take a pill that will give him his own digital nerd, Jeremy Heere, to help him be less chill.

Alr everybody, here’s your loser SQUID from the 1980s!

Below the cut is just me nerding out over the design choices I made, but just know that you can design the S.Q.U.I.D as pretty much anything you want, I love seeing different interpretations!

-So from what I can tell, jackets and rolled up jeans were pretty common men’s fashion in the 1980s. I decided to turn his cardigan into like a puffy jacket thing, and I’d imagine he tucks it into his pants like his shirt (cuz showing your belt was apparently popular, too). His shirt is still the same but I decided not to separate the stripes with lines and instead just let it be more gradient-like.

-Glasses chains were generally more of a grandma style when Jeremy was created, so having them is purely just adding to his looserness.

-His eyes are the same colors as his glasses and general wires/ports because they’re digital :D

-He’s got that bit of white in his hair because it looks nice to me

-Speaking of his hair, he’s got longer hair than my regular Jeremy design bc mullets were popular back then but he wouldn’t have the guts to actually have it styled like a mullet

-Tall socks because he sucks and has an irrational fear of ticks (even though he’s literally a computer program and can’t get bit)

Do y’all know how in BMC, “taking the upgrade” is when Jeremy fully starts listening to the SQUIP? What if in BLC, taking the upgrade means Keanu suddenly gets all the add-ons—Jenna and Chloe and Christine and Brooke and Rich and Jake.

Michael comes in later when so many characters glitches out Jeremy’s systems and he has to reset them

First of all, IFVALWIGTVWORIT THANK YOU I ALREADY KNOW IT’S GONNA BE PEAK.

RICH: I think Rich would be an add-on program (like MICHAEL’s original purpose) to help navigate building relationships with people you want to forgive. I’d imagine being as cool and cold as Keanu makes you not very understanding of others and their situations.

CHRISTINE: Oh she’s TOTALLY an add-on to help navigate crushes and how to approach people you like respectively (and for the blc Boyfs shippers, she could also be a model to simulate what a healthy way to accept rejection is)
