The Prisoner's Song/Chapter 3 Motive/ Open
Jed was not okay.
He had kinda broken down when they locked him in his room. With no way out, the room had seemed smaller…like the walls were closing in on him, reminding him of sone not so friendly times locked inside the closet.
He hated being alone, even when he was younger. He’d had Jess when he was lonely, and then when she was gone, he still had his horse, Biscuit, and if he ever needed some fresh air, there was plenty on his ranch. Now though, he was closed in.
4 walls, no way out.
For the first 13 hours he had been fine, but after a while he began to lose it. He ended up trashing his room, throwing anything and everything at the steel that had replaced his door.
Now he only had one hour out, and although he looked an absolute wreck, he desperately wanted some human contact. He just wanted to talk to someone, anyone.
He saw someone and waved over to them.
“H-Howdy there! How’s it goin’?”
Bea was kind of wondering where Jed was during this motive. He had been gone after the announcement, and now that she’s thinking about it, Carmen was gone too. Gosh, where are they…? She decides to try and check his room, and when she’s nearly there she sees Jed, looking horrible. And greeting her, oh gosh, he sounds desperate.
“H-hey, Jed!! I’m doing kind of okay, um, are you okay? Not to be rude, hon, but you look horrible..“
He laughed, but it seemed a little off.
“Haha I know! I am just- I’m just so happy ta see ya! I mean- man bein’ stuck in a room all alone fer 2 days really does a number on a guy, ya know?! It’s crazy!! I ended up breaking alot stuff, but it weren’t no good! B-but let’s not worry bout that, okay?! How’re you Miss Maricut!?”
He just wanted to see how Bea was doing. He may be under alot of emotional stress, but he’s gotta check on his friends!!
“Two days..? Broke stuff, um, are you okay?? Like, no im for real, Jed I’m kind of worried for you!” He did not seem okay at all, like oh gosh this murder was messing him up, wasn’t it? She placed her hand onto Jed’s arm reassuringly, trying to show that she’s here.
“I’m serious, what’s wrong? You’re not okay, hon, it’s really obvious.”
“I-I’m ….I’m not….I don’t have alot of time..”
He bit his lip.
“I only have about an hour before they force me back in and…an’ it gets so Lonely an’ it feels like the walls are closin’ in on me…”
He wrapped his arms around himself, almost as if he were trying to hug himself.
“I-I’m sorry fer worryin’ ya though! I - I’ll be alright, ya know?! It’s okay, really! ”
Oh, the poor baby. He didn’t deserve this, gosh this really was a horrible motive for him, wasn’t it? She just put her hands on his shoulder and looked into his face, a sad expression on her own,
“Hon, hon you’re alright, you’re not alone now. And even when you are in there, I’m there with you, okay? Even when you’re being made to think that no one is there for you, I’ll be thinking of you, okay?“
