The the psychic ability to control light which is electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye and is emitted and absorbed in tiny “packets” called photons. 

Practitioners can generate, bend, shift, focus, scatter and generally manipulate light to various degrees and effects. To the greatest extent, a user of photokinesis could make themselves invisible, protect holograms and create visual illusions. One may even find themselves able to move at the speed of light, levitate and/or fly.

Mitch looked down at the woman as she grabbed his wrist. She was right, of course, but what would happen if no one did anything? He was fairly confident he could take them on long enough for people to get out… until he noticed the guns. From the previous angle they had been obscured. “What do you suggest?” He asked. “We sit and wait?” His tone wasn’t confrontational, just genuinely looking for her opinion.

“For now. At least until we can figure out what they want.” Hallie didn’t exactly like the plan either, not if it meant them being stuck here. She saw no other option though, not without someone possibly getting hurt. “They’re not targeting any of us at the moment. They don’t care. The last thing we want to do is draw their attention.”

“I can take on one of their appearances, maybe trick them somehow or at least get into the office to call the police or something.” Okay, so her plan wasn’t really a plan, more of a vague idea but it was a start.

“I’ve already managed to send someone to get help.” She admitted before thinking back on the girls words. “And what would you do with the person who’s appearance you’re taking? You could risk revealing your an enhanced. It’s too dangerous.”

Odessa got as close to the building as she could, finding her way to the shade and becoming obscured by the shadows. She knelt down and focused, feeling her way through the darkness and inside the building, looking for all sort of ways in. She appeared in reception after playing a guessing game through the rooms and found herself crouching in the shadow of the door. In a moment, she drew the light from the air, the whole room turning pitch black in an instant. Through the darkness, she could see the position of her sister and she fell back into the darkness, appearing by the side of her. “We need to leave.” She said quietly in her sister’s ear. 

Hallie didn’t know whether to be annoyed or relieved at hearing the sound of her sister’s voice, though it brought a sense of comfort to her it also meant that she was now also in danger. “I told you to stay away. You never listen.” Her own words came out in barely a whisper hoping that they would get lost in the darkness. “I can’t just leave. What about the others, Dess? They’re terrified as it is, if I abandoned them and anything happened I would never be able to forgive myself.”

Hallie wished that she hadn’t bothered to send a message to her sister knowing exactly what she was like, after all it’s only what she would have done if the situation were reversed and it was Odessa trapped. She glanced up towards the Mayor’s office where she could hear the shouting coming from, the majority of the masked gunmen had dragged the Mayor back there and left one person guarding the group. She wondered if she could risk sending another text but it had already come so close to being caught last time.

Mitch watched the scene unfold before him, eyes narrowing as he tried to figure out what the men were trying to achieve. “Probably not for anything good.” He said, moving to a standing position. He wasn’t sure what his plan was, but surely something.

Hallie reached to grab his hand to stop him, worried what might happen and if he would draw attention to himself. “Wait-- we need to be sensible about this. Someone could get hurt.” Her words came out hurried. “What do you think you’re going to do by going over there?”

“So, I think I have a plan,” Elsie announced quietly chewing on her lip as she continued to observe the scene.

“What are you thinking?” Hallie questioned nervously, her head tilting slightly.

Odessa: Do you know what they're there for now?

Odessa: Stay calm.

Hallie: They're looking for something.

Hallie: The computers.

He could almost see the relief on her face, though it didn’t fully register. “They’re looking for sponsorship for a certain project they would like to do.” Mitch said, unsure how detailed he could be – granted, he didn’t know much about it himself. “I don’t think there’s much luck but my father wanted to look into it anyway.” Mitchell nodded in understanding, though he wasn’t aware there was a job going. “Well, I hope you get it.” 

Hallie had been about to reply when she heard a loud commotion by the front desk as a group of men tried to force their way past the receptionist towards where the Mayor’s office was based and three others locked the front door. Her eyes widened in alarm as she looked back towards Mitch, dread suddenly filling her. “Why are they locking the door?”

Odessa: Can't say I'd want the job after this.

Odessa: Who else is there?

Odessa: Which room are you in?

Hallie: No, I think it's definitely back to the drawing board.

Hallie: No one I'm familiar with.

Hallie: I'm in the reception. This really doesn't look too good though, Dess.

Odessa: What do they want?

Odessa: I'll bring help.

Hallie: If it is, then this if official the weirdest and scariest interview I've ever been to.

Hallie: The Mayor looks shocked and is starting to look nervous. They're looking for something.

Hallie: Just make sure you stay away, they look like they're part of that group.

Hallie: So I need you to not overreact and do something stupid. I need you to go get help.

Hallie: There's a group of people who have just ambushed the Mayor's office and barricaded themselves in here with guns.

Hallie: Stay away from here Odessa, I mean it. Just get help.

A sigh left his lips at her response – Mitch was usually a patient person, but for some reason when it came to his father and the business that he sometimes had to involve himself in on his father’s behalf, that patience took a back seat. “It’s hardly worth staying if he can’t be punctual.” He said shaking his head, but moved his gaze to the woman and offered her a smile. “Just a talk about sponsorship or something.” He shrugged. His father had told him the basics, but what he needed was the mayor’s information. “What about you?”

A sense of relief filled her at hearing his answer, not that she didn’t want the competition, it was just she’d rather not have to meet them and her nerves getting the best of her. “Sponsorship? For what? That’s of course if you don’t mind me asking..” She gave a sheepish smile realising that she was being nosey and pushy. “Oh, I’m here for the job interview. The PA?”

Sat in one of the less-than-comfy chair outside the Mayor’s office, Mitchell’s leg bobbed up and down impatiently. He wasn’t even sure why he was there – well, why he had to be the face of his father’s company, anyway. It wasn’t like he had all that involvement in it at the moment. He wasn’t sure whether he wanted to. Either way, he was stuck there waiting. “Does it always take this long?” 

“I’ve been waiting for nearly an hour so I wouldn’t be too confident.” Hallie glanced up from her book as she answered, casting her gaze in his direction. “What is it you’re here for?” She wondered whether he was her competition.
