my humble recommended reading for pride is when we rise by cleve jones. he does an amazing job of covering his life alongside his activist work. most significantly it covers his time in san francisco starting from the 70s and all the tragedies and joys and pains and moments of his community. I cried my ass off but I also laughed with him at a lot of moments. he did a beautiful job telling the stories of the people he knew and met over his life and I'm glad I got a chance to read it all
