40 y/o animal-loving, nature-loving, disabled lesbian looking for friends and/or romance in NW Florida
Hey y'all, I’m Maeve, and I’m a reader, writer, gamer, gardener, former equestrian and brand new birdwatcher! I’m a sci-fi/fantasy nerd, a former theater kid and farmgirl, and I also love to bake. I live in a Florida swamp near Pensacola, which despite the heat, humidity, and the ridiculously high pollen count also contains a lot of beautiful flora and fauna that I can see from my back porch, which makes up for a lot. I’d really like to make some new local queer friends, but I’d also be happy to make friends from any part of the world!
I don’t really consider myself femme, but I’m not sure I qualify as butch either, at least not anymore. Maybe soft butch? In any case, I don’t have a dating preference when it comes to butches and femmes. I love butch women, I love feminine women, and I love women who fall in-between or even outside the butch/femme spectrum. I just think women are so amazing, no matter how they express their gender, and that goes for trans women and cis women alike. I would like to date someone taller than me, though. I’m 4'11" and physically disabled with balance issues, so I’m not just a hobbit, I’m also a fall risk. This makes getting things off of high shelves a challenge at the best of times, and a tall girlfriend who can help me with that would be fantastic! XD
I was once a very active person, always either on my horse, on my bike, or in the water, but unfortunately that was a long time ago. The chronic health/pain conditions I’ve developed/had worsen over the years have left me unable to do the first two activities at all anymore and only able to go swimming every once in a while. I miss all of it, especially my horse, and honestly I just miss horses in general. These days, I’m rarely able to leave the house at all for anything but doctor’s appointments and grocery runs, but I’d still welcome the opportunity to meet up for coffee or movies or other non-strenuous activities like going to museums, hanging out at the library or tabletop gaming, which I’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet had the chance.
My life definitely isn’t what it once was, and it’s certainly not what I hoped it would be, but despite everything I still think I’m very lucky in a lot of other ways. If nothing else, at least I still have my plants, my books and games, my wonderful cats, and best of all, a really good relationship with my parents, which is a treasure in and of itself and something to be very thankful for.
