So considering its been like ten thousand years, I’m going to drop all of my threads/outstanding starters and just start over. I’ll have a starter call up at some point soon!

MORMONT WOMEN ARE ALL FIGHTERS TOO
❛ they’ll tell the story of tonight. ❜
Meme: Hamilton Status: Accepting
“All respect, m’lady, they’ll tell th’ men’s stories.”
Now she’s seen how it is here, how it seems to be everywhere south of Bear Island. The women are closed up in towers with guards ordered to kill them should their men all fall, and the men fight for life and kingdom and glory. And Jorelle among the women now, consigned by the southerner’s rules. It make her skin itch, it makes her legs long to movement. She feels too light without armor, without her ax in hand, feels too much alone without her sisters.
“On Bear Island the women fight because we have to,” she say. “We’d keep well to ourselves if the krakens didn’t come. But at least that way our stories are told, too.”
❛ take a break. ❜
Meme: Hamilton Status: Accepting
“Can’t.” Jorelle is panting, a sheen of sweat on her forehead, hairline dampened. Every muscle is aching, begging for the break that Lyra recommends. But if she stops she knows what pain will replace it, knows that pain is worse. Even training can’t put Dacey’s death out of her mind, but at least the ache, the force, the motion...it all tamps it down. At least for now. At least for the moment.
So she turns away from Lyra, adjusts her grip on her ax and spins away, her feet dancing into the familiar motions of her training.

*THROWS MYSELF @ YOU*
*GIVES YOU A GIANT BEAR HUG* HI
my dudes. my buds.
I haven’t been on tumblr in like three hundred years.
Her father was dead. Her father was DEAD, and the people she had trusted had killed him. Promises of mercy had c r u m b l e d before her very eyes, falling away to reveal that they had only ever been lies; lions knew nothing of mercy, but they knew how to lie. And she had been foolish enough to trust them, to place her father’s fate in their hands only for them to sink their CLAWS in.
She almost did not hear Jorelle’s words ( they were distant, m u f f l e d ), but then a cloak was pressed into her hands, and Sansa blinked, emerging slightly from her dreamlike state. Leave? Her father had wanted to leave, but Sansa had REFUSED, had run straight to the queen and told her everything, and her father had been k i l l e d because of it. All of his men too, and then they had taken Jeyne away, and Arya was gone… she was alone. Save Jorelle.
Body is slow to respond to thoughts, for her mind was screaming to flee ( fly away, little bird, and don’t look back ), but eventually hands unfolded the cloak and put it on. Her brothers and mother were out there; she wanted to go HOME. Hood was pulled over bright auburn tresses, SHIELDING them from sight, and she looked over at Jorelle.
❝ Do you… do you truly believe we can escape the city? The Lannisters have eyes everywhere. ❞
If they are captured, it is not Sansa who will die, Jorelle knows. They will return her to this prison, but she will not be killed. It will be Jorelle, killed on sight or jailed for this, sure to die eventually. Never again to see her sisters, never to return to Bear Island, never hear her mother’s voice again. Yet to die in such an effort will at least be worth the cost. For years has House Mormont been a shield before the Starks, answering calls to battle with bared teeth and ready paws. She could not live and die knowing she had not done all she could to protect the blood of Winterfell, to take Lord Stark’s daughter from this den of lions.
“I don’t know, my lady.” She would make no promises she could not keep. “But I would rather die in the attempt than let them keep you here. We need only make it as far as your brother’s army.”
With Sansa cloaked, Jorelle threw the matching one around her shoulders, pulled up the hood.
“Look no one in the eye, keep your head down. Walk quick, don’t run unless I do. We’ll escape them like you escape any animal. If we walk right out under their noses, they might not see us. If somethin’ happens to me, you run and keep running. I’ll catch up or I won’t, but get yourself beyond the city walls, keep heading North until you find your brother.”
Her eyes softened just for a moment and she reached out to take Sansa’s hand as she would have taken a sister’s, gave it a bracing squeeze.
“I wouldn’t risk it if I didn’t think we had a chance.”
Moodboard: Game of Thrones (ASOIAF) → House Mormont
House Mormont of Bear Island is an old, proud, and honorable house of the north, one of the principal families sworn to House Stark. Their seat is at Bear Island, located in the Bay of Ice far to the north-west of Winterfell. Their blazon is a black bear over a green wood and their motto is “Here We Stand”.

When news of the Red Wedding broke at the wall, Jorya was still in mourning for her father, slain by his own men. And now Robb had suffered the same fate, as had Dacey. She wasn’t sure how much more her heart would be able to take before it broke completely. She told Jon she needed to go home, to be with her family, as much as they were close, she needed her cousins sisters. She was glad for the silence on her ride south, as unsafe as it was, with her bow at her back and her axes at her sides, she dared any man to try her.
Arriving at Deepwood Motte was a blessing and a curse. It was nice to see familiar faces, friendly faces, but they weren’t happy ones. Their king was dead, their allies, friends. The Red Wedding touched the whole of the North. As the sloop she was travelling on docked at Bear Island, green hues moved to the trees that swayed gently in the breeze, the calls from the fishermen as they brought their haul to shore. It was as if nothing ever happened, tranquil and peaceful. She could block it out, everything out. Which is what she had done years ago after Jorah left. There were no passing faces, not many, to offer their sympathy. She didn’t need to feel the repercussions of his actions. She just needed to survive, to help her people.
Her boots moved swiftly across the jetty as she saw dark haired women tumble forth from the Keep at the top of the slope. Tears pricked at her eyes as she dropped her bags and ran up to meet them. She met Jorelle first, their bodies clashed together like titans, it felt as if thunder and lightning radiated from them as they wrapped their arms around each other tightly. ‘’ Im sorry.’’ She whispered hoarsely into Jorelle’s dark hair. ‘’I’m sorry I couldn’t’’. Slender fingers moved to hold onto the fabric of Jorelle’s top, rolling the soft cotton beneath her fingertips.
Dacey’s name had been howling in her mind since the day the news arrived, a fist with metal fingers clenched tight around her heart as its partner twisted her stomach. Their king was dead, her sister was dead, killed in cold blood. No more would Dacey’s laugh ring through the halls and the woods, no more would she be there to train Jorelle in sword and axe and spear, no more would she be there to call Jorelle “little sister.”
She would not have been able to bear the pain alone, she knew. It would have eaten her alive from the inside out, mauled her with teeth the size of swords and claws like scythes, would have left her raw and bleeding and unable to stop. With her sisters gathered ‘round her the hole where Dacey was supposed to be loomed larger, yes, but Lyra and Alysanne and Lyanna would not let her fall into it, as she would not let them. Grief would not take them alive, would not leave them for dead, not while the others were there. Grief was not a thing to be borne alone. And so when word came of their cousin’s arrival, there was no pause to wait or think. They went tumbling from the keep, running to the docks like wild things. Another sister come home again,
Jorelle was small and swift, and took the slope more quickly than the others, met Jorya first in a clash and clinging arms.
“Not your fault,” she said, face pressed to her cousin’s shoulder. If you were there, she thinks, they would have killed you, too. “It’s not your fault.” She holds tightly a few long moments, draws back just enough to see Jorya’s face. “I’m glad you’re home.”
Benjen couldn’t TRULY believe how nervous he was around Lady Jorelle. The last thing he wanted to do was to have her find a REAL reason to dislike him, so he treaded VERY carefully on the thin ice he walked. It was not very often that A LADY would bring such fear to him, GODS, he was sure that not even the White Walkers could frighten hims as much.
He had to admit, that he felt somewhat RELIEVED to hear that hint of laughter in her voice. It made him feel like PERHAPS he had a chance at winning over her approval—-eventually. ❛ She put up a good fight—-only with me of course, she acted like a proper lady in front of everyone else. I’m sure if they INSISTED she go today, that it could not wait. ❜
❛ And if she does not, then I PROMISE YOU my head. ❜ he wasn’t joking. He truly meant it. If Lyra were to tell her sister that she was absolutely miserable and hated Winterfell and hated Benjen, he would WILLINGLY let her sister end him right then and there. Perhaps she was not yet quite in love with Winterfell, but he was POSITIVE she had become truly happy there.
The walk to the guest house was relatively SILENT. He didn’t mind it, it was better to walk in silence then for him to say something stupid, or trip over his tongue like a FOOL.
At last, they arrived at the guest tower, and he showed lady Mormont to her room. ❛ Is there anything I could GET for you, Lady Jorelle? ❜
She thinks that if any of them were meant to be some lord’s wife, Lyra was the most likely. Dacey would’ve ended up being Lord herself, and it was difficult to imagine Aly bound in marriage. As for Jorelle herself, well, she had not thought of marriage once since her mother and sisters had put morningstars and training swords in her hands. Everything he had said only seemed to match her sister, suggested he truly knew her. It might have been easy to fake responses, to say that Lyra had put up no fight at all, or that she had not known when to be a proper lady, as though the daughters of House Mormont could not tell when skirts and silks were needed over ringmail and armor.
But it is the promise of his head that makes her smile, for it is easy to tell there is no joke in the words. “I shall hold you to that promise, Lord Stark.” And if it came to be that her sister was not happy, was held more prisoner than wife, she would take what was promised with no regret or hesitation. But she is beginning to think she need not worry so much, beginning to think that - perhaps - he has spoken only truth since she first arrived.
And if she is not yet warming to him, she is not quite so hard as she had been.
She walks alongside him in silence to the guest tower, up to the rooms where she would be staying. Jorelle glanced around, noting layout and furnishings before turning back again.
“There’s nothing.” She said, and then - as though on second thought - “thank you.”
She had no intention of staying in rooms longer than necessary. On Bear Island she was rarely indoors, preferring the woods and waters and falls to her chambers in the hall. Preferred training grounds and stable yards.
“Although perhaps some food would not be amiss.”
