Bear cam season is slowly approaching! Here's some quick information about the start of the season, for anyone who might want it.

Park rangers arrive in May, to get the camp set up for visitors. This means the earliest bear sightings are from them, not the cams.

The bear cams turn on in roughly mid-june. It depends on a lot of factors, though, and we often don't get very much (if any) warning beforehand.

When the cams come on, there will likely not be many bears, because there will not be salmon until the end of june/early july. Most activity will be bears passing through, courting, fighting, etc.

There is a good chance that there will be a lot of sows coming back with spring cubs, given just how many single sows we had last year, and how big the salmon run was.

Given how much bears change in appearance between fall and spring, it may take some time for the bear cam community to identify some of the bears, and incorrect IDs are more common as well.

I'm also likely to make more ID errors early in the season. Please be patient with me, i will update posts with corrections to the best of my ability.

I have been obsessed with grimshire the past few weeks- it's an incredible game you should 100% check it out if you like the idea of a dark Stardew Valley with emotional stakes and an incentive to good besides getting rich.

I kinda expect Horvath to go more ham on the "sacrificial maiden" theme with naming the comic Rite of Spring and all. Also kinda expect Sam manipulating Monica to go on a bit longer (the part about her feeling connected to Monica more than she has ever been with anyone? That was interesting. Can we have more of that pls). Also also, this gonna sound so bad, but I kinda expect Sam to die and this will be her closing act 😅 But I guess we're getting more sequels now

There’s some things I’ll change for version two, but I think this bear prototype turned out pretty great!

I have to credit @animalphotorefs because I used their grizzly photos as a reference and it was incredibly helpful (it’s probably clearer which reference photo I used looking at the main pattern piece lol)
