| ♪ She would notice the faint hint of disappointment on the brunette’s features, drawing an apologetic one to her own as she was quick to provide an excuse for her lack of knowledge, assuming she had missed out on quite the important fact. ❝ I’m sorry — I haven’t been paying attention to the news since…❞ there was a pause, an evident search for a way to avoid the mention of the grim event which caused her disinterest, but the whole world knew didn’t they?
Once the Whitebeard Pirates lost the war, their captain and their position as a crew of one of the four pirate emperors, there seemed to be little to no point in keeping up with what everyone else was doing. At least, to the hummingbird who struggled in finding much purpose let alone interest since her father figure’s death..
❝ I’m Rosa! ❞ she would finally settle on an introduction as a diversion to spare them both further awkwardness. ❝ — of the Whitebeard Pirates~ I guess we’re not supposed to but it’s better out in the open, isn’t it? ❞ a soft sheepish chuckle would escape her lips, somewhat lacking concern towards the truth just admitted.
❝ Sorry for rambling — you must be quite hungry and I don’t want to keep you waiting… so will you join me on our ship then? ❞
“Wait, you’re a Whitebeard Pirate? Ah, damn...” The odd sensation in the back of her mind was there for a reason, and now she knew why; the tattoo she had glimpsed at earlier had given her that tiny sense of familiarity, but she couldn’t place her finger on why until now.
A strange mood cloaked the brunette as she eyed the woman in front of her. It almost looked like pity, or was it understanding? Anita knew of the infamous crew, and of their captain. Her own captain had become fond of them, envying their power and notoriety. He had even joked once about wanting to meet Whitebeard, but everyone ( Anita included ) had laughed it off. Why would someone that amazing want to sit and have small talk with an ex-circus freak?
Anita knew more than she would have liked about them because of her captain, but there was one thing she couldn’t forget, and that was Lars’ admiration for the way Whitebeard treated his crew — his children. The acrobat remembered him saying once that it reminded him of their old ringleader. Never a day went by that their boss didn’t remind them that they were all his children, and that he was proud of his sons and daughters.
Losing him had been painful for her, and that feeling of understanding she had gotten when Lars showed her the newspaper returned. Losing a father was the hardest thing anyone could go through, but she didn’t share. It wasn’t the time for that, and she was sure that Rosa felt the same. Besides, they were strangers, and Anita wasn’t so quick to trust no matter how adorable the blonde as.
“Anita, High-Flier Pirates, and I’m starvin’! Lead the way!”
