au involving berkut and rinea.

rinea von maurice is a noble hailing from the leicester alliance, who moved to valentia. while she initially lived both her parents fodlan, her mother passed away due to illness, causing her to move with her father to rigel, where he was a lesser noble. after attending a ball and meeting lord berkut, they were soon in engaged after falling in love ; and they would soon wed in fodlan, after the war. ( in which case both rinea and berkut survived the events of shadows of valentia. ) rinea possesses the crest of maurice, and she introduces the idea of crests to berkut before they are wed, however, with berkut’s love -- that crest mattered not, that she’d met someone who assuaged her fears.

soon, marianne is born to the couple: a child bearing the same crest as her mother. however, as she grew up, she believed herself to be a burden to her parents; that their family had received threats because of their bloodline. she believed that she was a curse to them, blaming herself for their mistreatment.

marianne was used to it, eating her lunch alone — being the quiet one in the room. however, to her surprise, her classsmate sat with her today. in a way, the girl found herself much more comfortable around hilda than their other classmates, so her company was no trouble. however, she was never one for chatter, a struggle she decides to overcome for this moment, lips parting to speak to her comrade.
