“A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.” Belle recited in explanation to his question, a small smile on her lips. “Is there anything wrong it wanting to be friends with people?” She challenged after a moment. “I mean, the way I see it, unless they have given me a good reason not to be their friend, why should I approach it differently?” The brunette watched the man for a moment. “You seem quite cynical.” She mused, letting the air fall silent between them for a moment before they were introducing themselves. “It’s nice to meet you Adam.”
While sort of inspiring, her words also made Adam feel like he was talking to a child. The world was dangerous and filled with unforgiving people. Not everyone was out there to become your friend. Surely she must’ve known that? “I guess not. But isn’t friendship supposed to be a mutual thing?” he countered. “Oh, you don’t say,” Adam replied coldly. A little more so than intended. He was just so good at shutting people out. It was a force of habit. “Is it really?”
