Mika raised an eyebrow at her response, nodding softly. ``Well next time just toss something at me. I gotta keep myself awake here when its slow,`` she said, giving the woman a gentle smile. She wouldn't let the annoyed tone of the customer already ruin her day. ``What can I get you?`` she asked, leaning against the counter. Noticing the wallet, she raised an eyebrow. It was unique and she couldn't deny that she loved it. ``You got it,`` she nodded, leaning up to grab a glass and fill it with ice. ``So, that's a pretty neat wallet you have there. I cant say Ive seen one of those before. Way better than my own,`` she said, trying to get on the customer's level and redeem herself for making her wait.

Mika had pretty much gotten into the swing of things at Wolfsbane. So far she loved the customers and hadn’t dealt with anyone too bad. When she heard there was a new cook, she was excited to meet him and see what he was like. During his first days, she had only spoken to him when an order came up, not wanting to be in his way while he was adjusting to the new job. From first assumption, he seemed like a nice guy, couldn’t have been older than her. After checking on the tables, she decided to go in the back and get something for herself before it started to get busy for dinner. Running her hand through her hair, she never saw the door opening, but instantly felt the collision. “Fuck,” she muttered as she stumbled back slightly, realizing who she just ran into. “Oh, hey, I’m sorry! I should have been paying attention,” she said, glancing down to see if anything had been spilled.
Watching her look to see if anything had fallen and to see if he was okay made Jan blush a bit. It was lucky no one was holding anything otherwise the aftermath would have been way worse and Jan literally would have near shut the door and run from the conversation altogether. Spilling things on coworkers on the first day would have been a royal fuck up, so here he was just thanking the gods it hadn’t happened. Still looking down nervously, Jan simply nodded, out of it. “No, no. It’s my fault.” His voice came out more quiet and exasperated than he thought it would and so he coughed to clear his throat. “Um, I saw you working here earlier… My name’s Jan. Sorry, that we met this way, I was intending to introduce myself earlier…” He paused for another small, awkward cough, moving his hands idly. “…but it didn’t seem like the proper time to… being busy and all.”
MIka could tell the new guy was nervous, and it was kind of cute in a way. She knew about the first day jitters, and he seemed nice enough. ``Hey, no harm no foul. It comes with the job. Someone is going to get bumped into at some point,`` she said. Noticing how he awkwardly fidgeted his hands, she figured he must have been really, really nervous. ``Its better than meeting with ketchup bottles broken on the floor. My name is Mika and its great to meet you, Jan,`` she said, sticking her hand out to shake his. ``You're pretty nervous about today, aren't you? I can assure you that its nothing to be worried about. I started a few weeks ago and this place is pretty awesome. We all get along and work together well,`` she explained, trying to ease his nerves a bit. Working in a bar/restaurant, there were surely going to be some accidents.
Talk about a slow day. Due to the rainy weather outside, there didn’t seem to be one person wanting to come out for a drink. It was still early in the day, and Mika had to come in for a shipment and stock, but she had hoped at least one person would come around. At least she wouldn’t have felt so alone in the seemingly spacious bar. Taking the quiet time for granted, she wandered over to the jukebox, finding one of her favorite classics. No one could resist a bit of Queen, and she had yet to meet someone to hated them. Biting her lip, she went back behind the bar and turned up the speakers just a bit louder to get the full effect. “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy…” started to spew into the bar, the wolf lip synching rather aggressively.
As the song progressed on, she got lost in the music. Behind the bar, she started dancing as if she was back at home, not a chance someone could possibly walk in. But as her luck would have it, she didn’t notice that there was someone standing inside, escaping the downfall. As she heard a cough though, it startled her, making her cheeks turn red. “Oh, I’m so sorry,” she said with a nervous laugh, walking over and turning the music down to a reasonable level.
Kane did not care what the weather was. If he wanted a drink, he would make it to the bar. Weather didn’t phase him anymore. What did phase him, however, was opening the door to a girl happily singing and dancing along to the song. He groaned immediately, walking to the bar. “Hey, Dancing Queen, why don’t you make yourself useful and pour me a drink, yeah? Something strong. “
Mika raised her eyebrows as he spoke. Sure, she was used to some cocky people coming in, but part of her wanted to call him out for being so rude. There were nicer ways to ask for a drink. ``You got it,`` she said in a quiet voice, going against her inner judgement. Brushing her hair behind her ears, she got started on a drink for him, finding the strongest they had. ``There,`` she said, setting it down in front of the man. She hadn't seen him in before, but she surely wouldn't miss the snide comments if they kept coming.
Mika nodded gently, sadly enough she had already experienced what fear the humans had for the unknown and different. ``I just wish the humans could be a bit more understanding though. I've met quite a few really bad humans and a lot of super sweet creatures. We aren't all bad,`` she shrugged. Humans couldn't even accept the fact that their own kind sometimes liked the same gender, let alone not being afraid of a vampire or wolf. ``You know, it would be really funny to find out that it was some human who has been killing the people around here. For the ones most afraid, I would think they would be the perfect suspects. Kill and then act like they're innocent and hiding in fear,`` she said with a small smirk. Humming lightly at his question, she gazed up at him. ``Maybe I will come visit you. I might miss you just a little bit,`` she teased, leaning in closer as he tugged her with a smile. ``I actually work at Wolfsbane. You can come in and visit me if you'd like. Get a drink on the house even?`` she said, adjusting the books in her free arm as her other hand stayed resting on his.

First days at work are always nerve-wracking. For Jan perhaps it was more-so than other people until he settled in and knew a place like the back of his hand. Shakily delivering food to the window that lead to the front, there had been a small break in orders, and he expected it had to do with it being an off time, not quite yet lunch or dinner and still the middle of the week. Peeking from the doorway that lead to the kitchen to the rest of the Pub, Jan quickly pushed the door… not quite expecting someone to be coming from the other side. Generally he wouldn’t have been so out of it to not notice, but with the combined force of the stranger opening it and him pushing he was pretty sure he didn’t see the collision coming till someone hit him squarely in the chest and bounced back. Jan’s breath caught in his throat, and he slowly looked up at who he’d run into.

Mika nodded gently, shrugging. ``Hey, even vampires have their end. The whole stake through the heart thing, right? I think the idea of immortality sounds good to people, but they don't realize the hunters plus all of the enemies they make in those hundreds of years,`` she said. She liked the idea of there being some end. As much fun as it would be to see the world change, it seems to be heading down a bad path and who knows how good or bad it would be in a hundred years. Glancing up at him, she laughed. ``Well you can go for it, but don't expect me to come bail you out if the fae police come to get you,`` she teased. Swinging her books into one arm, she took his kind gesture and slid her arm underneath his. ``So what do you think about this little town? Any good places you would recommend?`` she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Mika raised her eyebrows at the answer. Witches weren't her first guess, but she was still too new to know what everyone was like here. She had yet to even hear what state the bodies were left in. Torn and bloody? Seized up? Markless? ``So I take it you're a hunter?`` she asked, it making sense now as to why someone would be chilling up in a tree.
Mika laughed quietly, shrugging her shoulders slightly. ``Well I do plan to stay so...I guess I have no choice,`` she said, liking the idea that she would be able to stay and feel like she had a place since she was turned. She nodded in agreement, knowing she had her own emotional issues. She couldn't imagine what everyone else in the pack dealt with on a daily basis. Resting her hands in her lap as he spoke, she was surprised that he was even letting her in, even a little. Finding out the pasts of other wolves was always interesting to her. ``Stolen?`` she questioned in a soft voice, wondering if it was even okay to ask. ``So how does this thing work? You introduce me to them?`` she tilted her head. Now that there was no hazing involved, she felt more at ease about joining.
``Who was the first body?`` Mika asked, curious about how it all started. When she was growing up, she loved watching vampire movies, so her mind jumped straight to that conclusion. But this was no movie and there were more supernatural creatures than just vamps. ``Demons exist?`` she asked before she questioned herself on whether or not she sounded like a complete idiot.
Grabbing the bottle, she refilled his glass, leaving the bottle on the bar in case he wanted more. ``I don't know about you, but humans can be just as unpredictable as the rest of us. I mean...look who they voted for as a president,`` she said with a slight smirk. She was never one to get into politics, but seeing a cheeto elected was just pathetic.
Mika nodded, wondering what the truth would be. ``But then again, I always see those types of conspiracy theories online. Elvis, Michael Jackson, Dimebag Darrell...sometimes people can't hand the truth that we all die someday. Supernatural or not, we all have a weakness,`` she explained. One thing she loved to do in her free time was look up theories, especially the ones that were especially crazy. ``Oh, just whooshing off hats or whipping around hair sounds fun. We can leave the damage causing for the woods, not living creatures,`` she laughed, thinking about his question for a moment. She had been headed home to drop the books off, but that could wait. Plus, she was starving. ``Cafe sounds great! Lead the way,`` she said with a bright smile.
Mika tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, raising an eyebrow. She could understand why people would jump at the chance to ask a genie to make someone fall in love with them, but she didn't see the fun in it. ``I could never do that to someone. Forcing someone to love them? I enjoy the fun of getting to know someone and find out if we have chemistry. Wishing is just taking the easy way out. Thankfully you have your morals in the right place and wouldn't do that,`` she grinned. ``I think if I ever did end up wishing for something, it would have to do with my health. If I ever got sick or broke something. But I'm sure the price to pay would be something else broken instead,`` she laughed.
