When I first heard the news that Jared Leto has signed up to play the iconic role of Joker for the coming film, Suicide Squad, my first reaction was, How is he going to pull it off?
Don't get me wrong. I love Leto and is a fan of his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars but I never thought of him as a potential candidate for the role. Although, knowing him as a character actor, I say he would do his utmost best to give us all an unforgettable Joker. However, the pressure is somewhat high on this one since he'll be taking a role that has been portrayed marvelously by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger in the past.
I honestly couldn't picture Leto in the Joker garb with his long ombre hair and beard. And he's too skinny for the role. I was thinking he would play well to be the Riddler instead.
But this week, changed all that when Leto posted a photo on his personal Instagram account hinting that he's chopping off the mane he has been sporting for a few years now.
And not only that, but Leto also said in an interview, that he's gaining weight for the role. Gaining weight like bulking up? Makes me wonder what kind of Joker David Ayer has envisioned for the film.
This week, Leto trended all over my twitter timeline when he posted a photo of himself clean shaven and sporting a bleached blond 'do. With all the hair gone, I can begin to picture him as Joker and its not so bad.
I searched the internet for any fan art or manip that fans may have done to see how Leto would look like as Joker and some of them look pretty good.
Or they could make up an entirely new appearance of Leto as the Joker.
I'm excited and can't wait to see the kind of joker they're going for. Reports are saying they're starting production next week in Toronto so crossing fingers we'll get to see snapshots of Leto finally dressed in the role.
Or if it's not too much trouble, he might even Instagram it. :-D You never know.
I wonder though if some songs from Thirty Seconds to Mars will make it to the film's soundtrack.
