New Ghosts (Campephilus principalis) 4x7" ink & watercolor Doing a bit of an off-the-prompts #Inktober this year with a little bit of everything (ink critters, birds, weird things, whatever strikes fancy) as I can. I have been thinking about the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker all day and it sucks. Despite knowing that the big ugly "Extinct" stamp was coming, it still stung to see it made official yesterday. I may bookmark this idea and do something bigger and more thoughtful with it later instead of just a wonky inktober sketch. It all feels very futile though. Please support the preservation and protection of ecosystems & our cohabitant critters.
If only to feel the sweet embrace of your lips
Upon mine one last time.
Let them call my name and my ears hear
The honey that is your voice.
And your fingers to playfully trickle down
My every inch to know it’s real.
For that soft, sweet taste of you once more
Oh I could die.
But it can’t be.
It shouldn’t.
Yet it pulls and draws.
I feel your abstract gravity
To a place I haven’t been
But in my dreams, or years past.
The gracious pull of you
Drums in my heart and soul
Strenuously tearing apart my being.
And all I can find
Amongst all this vacancy
Is nothing but a request I dare not make.
