Hey, I'm loving your blog! Just stumbled across it and ended up reading a TON of your meta and it's all just really great! I took the sorting hat chats quiz and was basically tied between Burned Gryffindor primary and Ravenclaw primary. I ended up settling on Burned Gryff with a strong Raven model, but I can definitely see myself tending more and more towards full Ravenclaw. Do you think that burned primaries oftentimes end up gravitating fully to their model house?

This is a really good question that gets right at the key difference between a Ravenclaw and a Gryffindor Primary. Because a lot of time, they look identical. 

Someone will say to me ‘well, it seems like your primary might change as you get older,’ and for a long time I’d go nooooo. People don’t CHANGE. That’s not how that WORKS. People become more like themselves, or less like themselves. They level up, but that’s not the same as changing. 

I’m a Gryffindor Primary. That’s a very Gryffindor Primary thing to say. 

Because to a Ravenclaw Primary, yes of course people change. You can change your values system and your outlook on life and who you are as a person by just really wanting to. Which is completely crazy. Very very cool - I love Ravenclaw primaries, they’ve got this really neat elastic thinking - but how do I know y’all aren’t going to wake up tomorrow and decide that actually Victorian Spiritualism is where it’s at?

Now when I hear someone talking about primary-switching, I think Ravenclaw Primary. Because yeah, a Ravenclaw Primary who thinks the Hufflepuffs have it all figured out essentially *is* a Hufflepuff Primary - until they decide that actually the Slytherin thing is more sensible. 

And maybe it’s a semantic difference, but I would say that you guys are not actually switching primaries. You’re Ravenclaws the entire time, you’re just redefining and revamping that Ravenclaw truth, which is what it means to be a Ravenclaw. 

And *burnt* Gryffindors - I’ve been there. Burnt Gryffindors basically are Ravenclaws, but unfulfilled, tired Ravenclaws. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor are so interesting because they’re the Idealists, but their internal experiences look dramatically different. And as a Burnt Gryff Primary, I can tell you that living in my models was not enough. I had to connect with my feelings, my wants, and my internal world, and kickstart my primary before anything started to make sense.
