Since 1999, it has been the headquarters of the Venetian Institute of Sciences, Letters and Arts and regularly hosts art exhibitions of international significance.
The Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti is not a university open to everyone, but an elite academy. Its members are selected from amongst the most distinguished scholars, scientists and literary figures. Its activities are divided into several areas:
Scientific Research, Preservation of Memory, Awards and Scholarships, Public Outreach.
The Institute is one of Italy’s most prestigious and oldest academic institutions. Whilst Palazzo Franchetti is its striking ‘shell’, the Institute is its intellectual heart.
Historically, the Institute was also responsible for monitoring and determining the exact time for the city and for managing tide levels – a vital role for a city that lives in harmony with the water.
In short, the Istituto Veneto acts as a ‘bridge’ linking Venice’s glorious humanist tradition with the technological and scientific challenges of the future.

Desde 1999 es la sede del Instituto Veneciano de Ciencias, Letras y Artes y acoge regularmente exposiciones de arte de relevancia internacional.
El Instituto Veneciano de Ciencias, Letras y Artes no es una universidad abierta a todo el mundo, sino una academia de élite. Sus miembros son seleccionados entre los más ilustres estudiosos, científicos y literatos. Su actividad se divide en varios ámbitos:
Investigación científica, Conservación de la memoria, Premios y becas, Divulgación.
El Instituto es una de las instituciones académicas más prestigiosas y antiguas de Italia. Si el Palacio Franchetti es el «cuerpo» escenográfico, el Instituto es su alma intelectual.
Históricamente, el Instituto también tenía la función de controlar y determinar la hora exacta de la ciudad, así como de gestionar los niveles de las mareas, una función vital para una ciudad que convive en simbiosis con el agua.
En resumen, el Instituto Veneto es el «puente» que une la gloriosa tradición humanística de Venecia con los retos tecnológicos y científicos del futuro.

L'Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti non è un’università aperta a tutti, ma un’accademia d’élite. I soci sono scelti tra i più illustri studiosi, scienziati e letterati. la sua attività si divide in diversi ambiti:
Ricerca Scientifica, Conservazione della Memoria, Premi e Borse di Studio, Divulgazione.
L'Istituto è una delle istituzioni accademiche più prestigiose e antiche d’Italia. Se Palazzo Franchetti è il “corpo” scenografico, l’Istituto ne è l’anima intellettuale.
Storicamente, l’Istituto aveva anche il compito di monitorare e stabilire l’ora esatta per la città e di occuparsi della gestione dei livelli delle maree, un ruolo vitale per una città che vive simbioticamente con l’acqua.
