k fuck I tried to play this but because this is Tumblr and everything is fucking broken the audio never played so I just kept scrolling and eventually forgot that I’d even tried to listen to this and then like 20 minutes later this sound clip played at full volume through my Bluetooth speaker while I was trying to fall asleep and it fucking sent me into cardiac arrest
Jesus Christ I’m so sorry.

🌀Hurricane Tips!🌀
Hoping that everyone in my hometown and state will stay safe and sound! My family and I survived through seven hurricanes and over a hundred tropical storms/sub tropical cyclones: here are some tips that we used to survive! Prepare for a week of no water and electricity!
If flooding is in your area, don’t take showers or drink any of the tap water! Try to avoid contact with floodwater. This is highly contaminated water; the floodwater goes everywhere (decomposing graves/animals, standstill bodies of water, highly fertilized areas, etc.) and contain insects and dangerous animals.
Turn your fridge and freezer at the coldest setting! Only open it if necessary. Keep the cold air trapped.
If you have space and electricity, keep gallon ziploc bags of (purified) water upright in your freezer! This will keep your freezer cold in case you no longer have electricity. Plus if purified, it is an extra supply of drinking water.
If the hurricane has not hit yet in your area, fill up your bathtub, sinks, and several buckets with water. This water can be used for flushing the toilet, washing dishes, bathing yourself, etc. If purified, that is an extra supply of water.
Your dishwater is a literal metal bunker! Keep important documents in here to stay dry: your passport, birth certificate, social security, wallet, money, insurance policies, identification. If you have to evacuate, it is important to take all these with you. Don’t worry if water gets inside your dishwasher, it will drain out at the bottom.
The same goes for your washing machine! Your washing machine is built is drain water, so stock it up with loads of ice and cold items. The ice water will all be drained away when it melts.
When phone lines are down, use walkie talkies. In the chance that you and your family get separated in an evacuation attempt or when the lights go out in the dark, walkie talkies have a long enough range to communicate with them.
When you have to evacuate, you should already have a bag filled with items that you really need. So state issued IDs, water, food, toiletries, flashlights, batteries, walkie talkies, radio, etc. Keep these items in a ziploc bag within your backpack or bag in case you have to wade through high waters.
Unplug any small appliances. Try to reduce the amount of flowing electricity and open wires/cords in your home in the case you have flooding.
In the case you have no electricity, use flashlights! Try to avoid using candles. When there is wind and flowing water, or in a moment of confusion, a candle can easily get knocked over and cause a fire. There will be little to no fire services in your area.
Even if your windows are boarded up with wood or metal barriers, keep away. The winds can climb up to more than 100 mph, but it is debris that the winds pick up that will most likely take down the barriers. Avoid rooms in your house (if you can) that have large windows. If you can’t, quickly do what you need to do and then leave.
Stay safe!
If anyone can add on any tips for pets that would be great! (I don’t have any so I don’t know what is best for them.)
Feel free to add onto this list!
Arrietty soup
Since it is Ghibli Gourmet month, I wanted to share this recipe for a soup that looks just like the one Arrietty and her family eats in The secret world of Arrietty!
When I rewatched Arrietty a couple of days ago and saw this soup, I thought that it looked just like a traditional Swedish vegetable soup. So I thought I could share the recipe. ^^
In my family we call it summer soup since you eat it in summer when there are fresh vegetables.
Recipe for 5 persons, cooking time 30 mins
Ingredients: 3-4 Carrots depending on size
½ Cauliflower
1 Broccoli
1 Small Leek
2 dl Fresh or frozen Green peas
8-10 dl Water
2 tbsp Flour
5 dl Milk
1 tsp Salt
1 dl Parsley
Black pepper
Start by washing all the vegetables. Cut the carrots in coin big pieces and slice the leek into thin slices.
Then break the broccoli and cauliflower in bite size bouquets.
When you are done with cutting all the vegetables heat up some butter in a pan. When the butter has melted, add in the leek and fry until the leek has softened. It should not get any color, just a little bit translucent.
Then start with adding 8 dl water and 1 tsp salt to the pot with leek. Bring the water to a boil. When it´s boiling add the broccoli and cauliflower. Add more water if needed, the water should just cover the vegetables.
Bring it to the boil again and then let it boil for about 1 min. Then add the carrots and boil for 3-5 minutes or until all the vegetables are barely soft. While it is boiling, put a strainer over a bowl. You need it to keep the water after straining the vegetables.
To check if the vegetables are done, stick something threw them and taste them.
Drain the vegetables over the bowl.
After draining the vegetables put them aside and put the water back into the pot.
Now it is time for the flour. With a whisk, whisk together 2 tbsp flour and about 3 tbsp milk in a bowl. This is the roux that will make the soup a little bit thicker.
Add the rest of the milk to the pot with water and let it come to a boil. When its boiling add the roux (flour and milk mixture) while whisking. When it´s all combined, add the vegetables and the green peas. Let it boil and add black pepper and salt to taste.
Cut the parsley, save some bigger bits for decoration and the soup from Arrietty is done!
I totally forgot about the parsley ~_~; .But it really improves the taste a lot, so don´t forget it!
Here is the final product!
I should have skipped the leek just for the looks and add the parsley but otherwise I think it turned out really well. ^^
As you see I use dl (deciliters) and not cups for measuring. 1 cup is about 2,25 dl.
This is probably my favorite soup so I hope you try it and enjoy it too.
