Superboy math
I recently watched Reign of the Supermen (which was awesome by the way, go see it if you haven’t) and I was confused at just how young Superboy looked. I was curious, so I decided to try and figure out how old he would be. (Ignoring the fact that he’s a clone and was force grown in a pod)
Anyways, first I decided to use his height. So I pulled Lex’s height (which turns out to be 6′2) now all I need is a shot where Superboy and Lex are standing side by side. Luckily, lo and behold we have the perfect shot where Superboy has his arms crossed and is leaning next to Lex. Next, I googled the average head size (wouldn’t recommend, google got confused by which head I meant) and found that the average human face/head is about 8 inches high. (I could have just found out what percentage of the body that Lex’s head was to find that actual height of his head, but I couldn’t get a good reference for it. So I had to make do with what I had) I used this value and compared the heights, finding that Superboy is about 1 and 1/5 heads shorter than Lex.
This equals around 8 and 1.6 inches respectively. So around 9.6 inches. 6foot 2 inches - 9.6 = 5.36666667 feet. Rounded up to 5′4. The average height four a 13/14-year-old is 5′3 and 5′4 inches. So, Superboy has been force grown to about 13/14 years of age.
