God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19)

“Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

You are God’s representative in this earth. When you follow the Word of God and allow Him to work in your life, you are letting your light shine. When you are good to people and show them kindness, even when they don’t deserve it, you are shining your light. When you smile and keep a good attitude, even when things don’t go your way, you are setting an example so that people will glorify God in heaven. Notice this scripture says, “they will see your good works…” People aren’t impressed by our knowledge or what we say, people are drawn to God by our good works.

Ask the Lord to show you ways to share His goodness with others. Look for opportunities to let your light shine everywhere you go - at home, at work, in the grocery store, at the gym. There’s always an opportunity to be an example of God’s goodness. As you do, it will bring honor and glory to God; and when you honor Him, He always honors you. He will continue to pour out His abundant blessing in every area of your life.

I am a proud "Jamerican." That is, someone who is born in America but who comes from Jamaican descent. Both of my parents are Jamaican and we have visited the country many times.

We somehow found ourselves at my mother's primary school on one impromptu vacation to the beautiful island and hearing my mother say that it was "in worse condition" than it was when she went there really hit home.

That is why, in the eighth grade, my sister and I started the Cove Basic School Foundation. We have been raising money for the small school through numerous concerts, meetings, and other events. We were blessed to receive funds from my old and present school by classmates and wonderful parents coming out to support our cause.

We have had two Christmas celebrations with the incredibly intelligent students in Jamaica and each time was a blessing.

I would love for the cause to get more attention, because the children are beautiful and talented and smart, but their circumstance might be the one thing to hold them back from achieving their dreams.

So thankful that I had the opportunity to go to Spain last week. 

It was beautiful and so nice; I really loved it.

God is gracious and kind and continually blesses me.

When trials and challenges come, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. You may feel lost or uncertain about the future. That’s when we need to turn our hearts and minds to God because He has promised that no matter what we face, we can have His perfect peace. We can feel His perfect love. We can have confidence because He has already overcome the world.

The key is that we have to keep an eternal perspective. We have to know that the trials that come our way are only temporary. We may experience tragedy or loss in this life, but with God on our side, we have the ultimate victory in eternity. We may have seasons of grief or sadness here on earth, but He is our comforter, and in the end, He will wipe away every tear from our eyes.

Remember, when difficulties arise, focus on the fact that you have the ultimate victory. Don’t let fear paralyze you; instead, put your faith and hope in God. Those things that the enemy meant for evil, God will turn around for your good. He’ll lead you out stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before.

Satan deceives people into thinking that the source of their misery is due to their circumstances and what is going on around them, but actually, the real trouble is due to what is going on inside them. When our focus is on God and His sovereignty, our attitudes begin to change.

God’s mission is messy and costly. Think about it. In order for us to be a part of God’s family, to be his disciples, to get to live in eternity with him in his home, it cost him his comfort to the point of a dirty, torturous execution on a cross. Yet I often want to be his follower and have a life of comfort.
