obsessed with the Helena and Irving parallel and what it says about the aspects of our identity we think are fundamental (but aren't)...
Like Outie Irving assumes his Innie is just as radically anti-Lumon as he is. He assumes his hatred of Lumon is something ingrained in his personality! That's why he stays up at night drinking coffee and making paintings, because he hopes that when his innie dreams about the testing floor, he'll say "okay bet" and start exploring. That's what Outie Irving would do, after all. But he miscalculated! His hatred of Lumon isn't inherent--- his desire for meaning and art and spirituality is inherent. That's what his hatred for Lumon is built on. But in a world where there's no meaning outside of Lumon propaganda, of COURSE his innie would become ridiculously devoted to the company.
And Helena!! She is the corporation, that's her whole identity. She presumably assumed that Helly would be just as pro-Lumon as she is. But she miscalculated too! Her devotion to the company isn't inherent, her headstrong and entitled nature is what's inherent! And in a world where she's denied any agency whatsoever, that manifests as rebellion.
It's the same dynamic flipped on its head. They both sent their innies in there with opposite intentions--- one to take down the company, one feed the company's expansion--- only to realize that rebellion and devotion aren't inherent characteristics. Their innies have become the exact opposite of their outie selves, while still being exactly the same!! Because even though your personality is inherent, the values you hold are determined circumstantially. OUGH IT'S SO GOOD.
Okay, i honestly think that scene was only supposed to be there for laughter so this post is an intentional over analysis,take it like that
So the eye roll and “everybody has lost their minds” can have different meanings
-He is frustrated that Wylan and Jesper are flaunting off what could become each other’s weakness, acording to himself
-He thinks either Jesper or Wylan will screw up, either considering Jesper too messy for a real relationship and may disappoint Wylan or that Wylan will go back to his dad as soon as he can and leave Jesper behind
Well, the people have spoken! More analysis time. In light of the holidays, I decided to not torture everyone with painful scenes and do more lighthearted(ish) ones. These are just small moments I've noticed that others might of seen as well, or not!
Now, onto this scene. This is when Wylan and Jesper sneak into the house Alby is staying at. By now Jesper remembers who Wylan is, and he asks him why he never said anything before. Of course, Wylan explains how Jesper never remembered him so why bother?
Jesper explains his defense but at the end, Jesper is smiling. He was smug and teasing. If they never got interrupted by Alby I do wonder where this conversation would of gone. Jesper wasn't mad at Wylan for not telling him, instead he was bantering with him, possbily ready for a flustered comback? He seemed to be tracking Wylan's movement, only turning around when Wylan looked passed him.
Now, way after this scene and after the whole pekka showdown we see Jesper was ready to ask Wylan out for the night, not bothered in the slightest that Wylan had left. For all Jesper knew Wylan had work or was busy. There were no indicators that Jesper was ever upset at Wylan for not telling him, just curious.
But then after Wylan admits the reason he left was because he was worried Jesper would leave before him do we see his walls start to come around again.
He claims how it makes sense Wylan left, and he might of left as well. That's all Jesper was known for in his reputation. A lot of people knew it would just be a one time thing and didn't think anything of it.
Wylan, while he did know his reputation left because he was worried Jesper would. He seemed to adore Jesper from the first night and clearly wanted more, but was worried it would go nowhere. (which could of also been a cause of Van Eck's abuse towards his self-esteem. Wylan assumed Jesper wouldn't want to be with someone like him.
The only difference is Jesper wants Wylan. And Wylan wants Jesper just as much. He is putting his heart out for the first time in who knows how long for Wylan. Because despite everything, he did remember Wylan, and the night quite well it seemed, and Wylan remembered him.
This is another thing that is common in both Wylan and Jesper. Like from the clip from Ni Weh Sesh (I Have No Heart) Episode six the lines "You guard against pain. You guard against joy." Pan over Jesper and Wylan respectively. Jesper blocks out any pain he can with humor, with jokes and any way to forget. And Wylan seeks out self sabotage behaviors to end something before it becomes more as he feels like he doesn't deserve it.
They both want to open up to one another, but just need a push. which Jesper is the first one to do, and as we know Wylan receptrates it with the kiss.
I have no idea how long ago their night was, clearly before the events of season 1, but by how long? Days? Weeks? Despite having more despite matters at hand with trying to clear their names, and Wylan trying to stay alive and hidden they still remembered each other.
how at peace he looks. haymitch loved lenore dove so much he found his ground whenever he was by her side. he had to give up so many things in his life to take care of his people, yet with her he could finally find the contentment and peace he had always yearned for. his dreams were all about preserving his love for her and building a family. his soul will forever belong to lenore dove.
Imagine Haymitch accidentally tearing his jacket and not being too worried about it except Lenore Dove takes it, rips a part of one of her dresses and some cloth she has, and stitches his jacket together and adds more inside because she loves him just as much as he loves her and winter is soon and she doesn't want her love to be cold.
Haymitch opens his jacket and it has some small square stitched patchwork designs from all the fabrics she used. It's mismatched and her stitches are not perfect and she's a little embarrassed except he's beaming and walking around unzipping it and showing everyone who gives him two minutes of their time her work.
