Democratic personalities Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Cory Booker, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders react to the Alabama’s abortion ban
Its terrifying watching this from Canada. We have extremist politicians trying to get into power here too and it’s just so scary watching this stuff. I hate this world and I hope WOMEN WIN THIS FUCKING FIGHT.
Ok I had a friend (a smart one) explain to me that the point of these laws is to get a Supreme Court case opened against the laws if they aren’t like immediately overturned. If it reaches the Supreme Court than changes to the official Roe v. Wade decision could be made since it would technically be reopening this case. So it’s especially dangerous if it reaches courts. I can’t remember if Trump has elected a judge or not but this could be very very bad federally.
I’m here for these tweets
Also because doctors engaged in handwringing about men not liking the side effects associated with birth control. Which, hello? Uterus-having folks taking birth control have to deal with the side effects associated with estradiol and progesterone on a regular basis. I’m on the ring now, which works perfectly for me, but I remember sore, tender breasts, bloating, and awful mood swings when I was on the pill. That’s okay, but if men have to deal with it, it’s suddenly a concern? Psh.
In addition, you cannot force someone to perform a life-saving service for you against their will, even if it means you die. Forcing someone to provide a life-saving service for someone else - against their will and at great personal cost and risk to themselves - for nine months is literally slavery. Like… not to escalate, but it is. Even if a fetus has full 14th amendment rights, they do not have additional rights over other people.
Please share this! I can’t stress how important this is.
I’m not good at tagging things, add as you see fit.
Regarding Step 2: If someone notices you “look pregnant,” and ask about it: TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT.
“Oh, I’m pretty sure I just put on a few pounds. Holiday snacks, you know.”
“Of course I’m not pregnant. I haven’t missed a period.” (Don’t mention the date of your last period. If pressed, “I don’t remember exactly.”)
“Ugh, really? Nooo! I do not want to look pregnant!”
…and so on. Adjust as appropriate for your communication style. Don’t admit it to anyone. Don’t say that it’s possible. Insist that you are certain you are not pregnant.
yes if u pay ur procedure in cash & tell ur provider u do nottttt authorize any releases for TPO (treatment, payment, healthcare operations) they can’t tell anyone bc HIPAA. this goes for any treatment paid in cash. they definitely cannot tell ur insurance company! some providers can get around and can release info even against ur will but most only do that if ur life is in danger!
Bill Nye for most of his career: Imma do science for kids. Science without politics. Nice, tame science for the kiddos.
