mamma mia is actually the most important movie of all time. you must understand. it's silly and goofy and a heartfelt story and maybe it's not realistic but it sure is compelling. christine baranski is a cougar and colin firth is gay. abba proves once more that they're one the greatest bands to ever exist. the color grading is vivid and saturated and everything looks alive. most importantly the main themes are that our greatest quality is our immeasurable capacity for love and that we're meant to connect with and take care of each other because all we have is each other. you must live life to the fullest because it's everything you have. you get to live and feel sunlight on your skin and experience happiness because you are capable and deserving of feeling happy.

rewatching Mamma Mia! and just. it’s so perfect in it’s imperfection. people are sweating and their hair is messy and the makeup is minimal and the older people have wrinkles and also look hot and the costuming is chaotic and perfect and the actors were a little tipsy and they mess up lines and aren’t always perfectly on pitch and some of them are clearly not singers or dancers but they look like they’re having so much fun and I really believe that they’re on a greek island that’s the site of Aphrodite’s fountain and god it’s just a perfect movie.

i don't think grace (especially book grace) misses earth all that much, though he does miss his kids, but i like to imagine him growing older and more mature and, looking back, mourning the love he could've had for it. feeling out the empty socket in his past left by his avoidant tendencies and grappling with the idea of never getting a chance at a do over. it's a very specific kind of grief that people who lost years of their lives to depression are hauntingly familiar with. and i think it would start all the way back on earth, when he decides to stay on the project and starts working with other scientists again and realizes he could've had this the entire time if he hadn't blown up his career to have the last word
