               milena felt terrible for the critique. this was why she knew she would never make a good judge on any of those singing competition shows. maybe it was because she had come from the most biased and judged sport of all, but she simply could not dole out criticism — but becca was her friend and she needed to be honest, as nicely as possible. “if you want to release a fun summer song, that’s definitely it though. that bass was top notch,” she nodded with a soft smile, hoping her additional comment could help. “but, regardless of what i think, what do you think? because if you like it, then fuck what i think.” she shrugged to show that she meant it. the bottom line was that no one else’s opinion should matter.

      as softhearted as becca could be, she didn’t expect anything less than honesty from her friends. if she wanted a yes man, she had plenty of those ready, so it was clear something wasn’t sitting right in her heart. truth be told, she was just waiting for someone to tell her to stop. that it wasn’t a good idea. but even she didn’t realize that yet. “ i mean, i guess i’m not really sure what i want. ” and wasn’t that always the problem. “ a good summer song never hurt. but i feel like i still haven’t put out anything serious. i just want like.. one song to be me, you know? but i only have acting experience, so they don’t let me write. they say it’s better for me to just sing. ” becca bites her lip with a shrug. “ they’re probably right. i don’t know anything about writing songs, and it’s just about the time to put out a summer song. ”

aimee was always willing to listen to her friend’s new music.  she was constantly working on a million and one songs of her own, anyway.  even if they never all came out, she was still working on them.  so when she could lend a hand ( or an ear ) to a friend in need, she definitely would.  “it’s definitely a good beat, if you’re really looking for it to be a song people listen to for party music.”  aimee nodded her head with a look passing through her eyes.  it wasn’t her particular favorite song, but she didn’t think it was the worst song she’d ever heard before either.  and there’d been plenty of bad songs aimee had heard in her lifetime.  “is it what you want to do?  make a party song?  because if it is, then go for it.  but if not, then we can work on something else.”

        the reaction isn’t so bad. honestly, the point was more to sell than it was to connect, but as much as becca tried to explain to her team that relatability was in these days, they didn’t like to listen. so, a party song it was. “ i think that’s kinda the point. something people will dance or sing along to. something that’ll get radio play. ” unfortunately it seemed to always be about commercial success and not much else. still, the fact that aimee thought it was good for its intent and purpose came as a relief. “ you think so? i was thinking maybe the chorus could use some work. if the lyrics are.. well, that, then i want the chorus to punch. get stuck in your head, you know? ”
