Huh?
Hi there. My name's Beck Playfair. I'm a normal human. That's... about it.
[BECK proceeds to scribble out the eye of providence on a one-dollar bill.]
How to ask cute naiad out when you don't deserve love
My boss's grandniece is hiding something. I can feel it.
[A wild BECK has appeared! He's holding his wand, glancing around, confused.]
...Yep. Definitely not my house.
(@beck-playfair)
Shadow Milk Cookie had been preparing his next game when Beck abruptly appeared outside the Spire of Deceit. He spun around and peeked outside the window. This... no, not a cookie. He didn't smell or look like a cookie. Nor anything from Earthbread. A witch? But how?? It stared for a long moment, studying the large (compared to itself) figure.
"Nope! This is the one and only Shadow Milk Cookie's domain! MY domain!!" Lies voice had an edge of aggression to it. "I admit, wasn't expecting an audience at this hour!~ What are you doing here, hmm?"
[BECK whips around, his eyes darting left to right as he searches for the source of the voice. Eventually, his eyes land on SHADOW-MILK, his face contorting with shock. He blinks a few times, glances around a bit more, as if searching for the actual person who was speaking to him, before glancing back at the cookie, even more shocked than before.]
...You're a cookie.
"Hehe... ehehehehe...! Of COURSE I am!" He replied cheerfully, though some aggression was still present in his voice. "You're on Earthbread, the land of cookies! Present at The Spire of All Knowledge." Shadow Milk Cookie softened its voice and rested a hand on its chin. "Now... how did you get here?"
"Magic wand."
[BECK holds up his wand and motions to it. He still seems very perplexed by the whole "there is a sentient cookie talking to me" thing. Part of him wonders if this is Bill's doing—he seems like the type of guy to make a world full of talking cookies just because he could, although he'd definitely do it with malicious intent. Bill was terrible.]
"So, what you're saying is... everyone here's a sentient cookie? You're not the only one?"
"Magic wand... interesting~." Lie nodded with a smirk. He then climbed onto the windowsill and floated out of his Spire to view Beck up close. "You're quite the specimen!" It commented. "Of course I'm not the only one, silly~! How could a place for cookies exist without its GRAND POPULATION?" Lie's voice switched to that of a show host at the end of that last sentence.
"Well, technically, it wasn't just the magic wand that brought me here. I've been working on teleportation magic, specifically dimension-hopping. It's pretty obvious that I'm still trying to get the hang of it."
[BECK does his best to not make another comment about SHADOW-MILK being a cookie. It's pretty obvious that lie is one, after all. Still, the way it had been speaking to him seemed... angry, as if BECK had personally slighted him. He decides to make a mental note of this, deciding to possibly bring it up later.]
"So, this world is full of people who just happen to be cookies. You've... probably never seen a human before, if that's the case. I'm a human, by the way."
"Clearly!" Shadow Milk Cookie snickered. He silently wondered how foolish one witch could be, given that this one knew nothing about Earthbread. "Oh, no, I've DEFINITELY seen your kind before~! How else could I have gotten baked?"
"I mean, I guess that makes sense, but... I don't know. I kind of just assumed that you guys were the ones to bake the next generation of cookies, you know? Like, cookies seem like this universe's version of humans. Does that... does that make humans your gods?"
"Gods?" It cackled loudly, kicking its feet. "HEHEHHAHAHAHAHA!! AS IF! THE PUNISHMENTS THEY TRIED ON ME DIDN'T LAST! IF THEY WERE GODS, THEY COULD HAVE STOPPED ME!" They could have HELPED me; lie added silently.
"Well, even the plans of gods can be thwarted sometimes, but I digress..."
[BECK knew this fact all too well. He held the soul of someone who considered himself a god, someone omniscient, all-powerful, unstoppable, until... he was stopped. BECK is thankful of that fact, of course, but still... he didn't like thinking about him. Still, the mention of "punishment" made BECK curious.]
"What did you do that made the humans punish you, anyway?"
[A wild BECK has appeared! He's holding his wand, glancing around, confused.]

[STANLEY hollers, dropping his cigarette into the sea.]
"GOD— holy FU—uuudgesickles. where did you come from??"
[BECK jumps, shrieking like a little girl. He calms down, however, once he notices it's LEE.]
I don't know how I got here, but I think I'm from dimension 81453? I'm Beck, by the way. You... look like my boss.
[STANLEY just blinks, bewildered, before sighing.]
"okay. jesus christ, okay. Beck, yeah? im— you probably already know who I am if I'm your boss in an alternate dimension."
Yeah. Stanford Pines, right? Goes by Stan? Runs the Mystery Shack? But we're on a boat... why are we on a boat?
"...ohhkay, uh. shit. gonna break the illusion for you, kid, but I'm stanley, not Stanford. your boss— who is most likely an alternate version of me— is using his twin brothers identity. probably shouldn't have told you this because it'd, uh, break your universe, and— oh fuck wait. shit. nevermind, forget i said any of that—"
...
[BECK blinks.]
Huh. Okay. That... that makes a lot of sense, actually.

[BECK cautiously approaches PARANOID-TRIANGLE yet again.]
...uh... hey. I, uh, wanted to ask you something.
(@beck-playfair)
[He jumps, growling and holding his hammer threateningly- but relaxes when he recognizes Beck.]
... er... sorry. you scared me... what is it?
Uh, so... I was wondering, do you have any powers?
... uh... yeah. i'm... not good with them, though...
Well... would you like to possibly learn how to use them better?
... yeah...? ... but how would you teach me?
Well, my family's pretty good with magic. Your powers can't be all that different, right?
... i... i guess so...
[He scratches a spot near his top corner, on his side.]
... is it hard?
...Honestly, it depends... everyone can do magic, it's just some people have more of an affinity towards it than others. Lots of the times, humans and witches use things like wands and staves as a sort of device to channel their magic through. It also takes a lot of confidence and concentration. You need to believe the spell will work, and you have to concentrate on what you want it to do. Does that make sense?
... i... i think so. could, um...
[He spins his hammer around for a moment, before pointing to it.]
... could this work? as a wand?
Hm... I don't really see why not. Usually wands have some crystals on them, but I think that's only so they look pretty... I think the most important thing is that you made it yourself, so that you have a connection to it.
[BECK takes out his own wand.]
This is what mine looks like.
[He stares at it, seemingly mystified.]
... woah... pretty...!
... well... i did make mine... and i could probably find a crystal to be safe...!
We probably have some crystals around in the forge. I know you don't like people... Maybe I can bring some to you and you can pick out a few that you like?
that sounds nice! oh- got any ones with yellow and pink?
[He seems... genuinely enthusiastic.]
Yep! I'll be right back.
[BECK leaves for a few minutes, then comes back with two containers, one with yellow crystals and one with pink.]
[He waits, perfectly still, until Beck returns.]
... ooooo... sweet! let's see...
[He grabs one from each and attempts to blend the crystals together, lighting his hand and swooshing it around both to swirl them together.]
[BECK watches PARANOID-TRIANGLE marble the crystals in awe.]
Woah...
[He looks over.]
... do you think i could shape it into something, or does this glob work?
Well, the glob works, but you can definitely shape it into something if you want.
... okay... ummm...
... a triangle is a bit too on the nose... a heart? noo, a bit too cutesy... too grown-up for that... uh... oh! how about a diamond? that's a nice shape. it's like two triangles. :)
I like diamonds! I have a diamond on the end of my wand. It's kind of embedded into the gold, but it's there!
ooo, cool! so, we'd kinda match then. your diamond in a wand and mine in a hammer... yeah, i'll try that!
[He sticks the glob to the hammer, melting off parts until it looked like a diamond shape embedded in the side.]
[BECK gives a smile to PARANOID-TRIANGLE.]
That looks great! I'm sure you'll be getting the hang of magic in no time. Speaking of, are you ready to train?
[He gives a "smile" as best he can in return.]
... i guess so... oh, but um... i did build a portal gun into this thing... it keeps breaking, but... that won't mess with it too much, right?
Eh, I don't think it'd matter that much. We have someone who forged a sword and uses that as a magic-channeling device. You should be good.
... woah... sword...
... in that case, i guess i'm ready!
Okay, then let's start with something simple... like color swapping.
[BECK takes one of the yellow crystals and holds up his wand.]
Just think about the gem changing color, and flick your wand. Like this:
[BECK flicks his wand. With a flash of blue light, the crystal becomes pink.]
You can also do a little something extra if it helps with the confidence and concentration part. Like, my sibling, Aster, will mutter something like "please become a square" three times under their breath when doing a shape-swapping spell.
[BECK places the gem in front of PARANOID-TRIANGLE.]
Now, try turning this crystal yellow again.
hm... okay!
[He aims the hammer at the crystal, imagining the crystal becoming yellow.]
[. . .]
[It... Changed before he flicked the hammer. Which ended up being a full slam.]
[The crystal goes flying, hitting the wall behind BECK and clattering against the ground. BECK picks up the now-yellow gem, and shows it to PARANOID-TRIANGLE, beaming.]
You did it! : D
[He wags one of his legs enthusiastically- an old habit- already looking overjoyed.]
I did? I DID IT!!! :D
Yes, you did it! Although, maybe try and swing your hammer less forcefully next time—you might not even need to swing it at all, in fact. Maybe just point it at the object, okay?
... umm... okay! ... what do i do next? :)
Hmmm... Let's try duplication.
[BECK places the crystal back in front of PARANOID-TRIANGLE.]
Now, this'll be a bit harder, considering it's willing reality to create something rather than change it in a way. Still... you got that first one really quickly, so I'm sure you'll catch on quickly!
... well, i've kinda tried that before... couldn't get it quite right though...
[He points the hammer at the crystal and tries to imagine a second one appearing.]
[. . .]
[A second one appears, but it's in a slightly warmer shade of yellow, and a mirror image of the other.]
[BECK nods at the gem, still smiling. He doesn't seem disappointed that PARANOID-TRIANGLE didn't get it the first try.]
You're off to a great start! When I first started duplicating things, it wasn't nearly as similar as your first attempt was. You'll get it soon, don't worry!
... oh, really? it's... it's good? yay!
[The little wag returns, though much subtler. It almost just looks like kicking his leg side-to-side, really.]
Of course it's good! Everyone has to start somewhere. You're better at using your powers than you think.
...Hey, this kind of reminds me of a story from the time Aster and I were learning magic.
... woah...
... ooooo, story? :)
Yeah, story!
So, Aster and I were learning the color-swapping spell, but for some reason, Aster could never seem to get it right. Sure, they could change the shade, but never the color of the object. Turns out, they have achromatopsia, which means they can't see colors other than black, white, and gray. So, it wasn't working for them because they literally saw colors differently than others. Isn't that interesting?
woah... that's really cool! ... i like stories. it helps remember things i'd never know otherwise. :)
Yeah, stories are great. I think what I'm trying to say is, just because it isn't perfect right away, don't let that get you down. If you keep practicing, you'll be great at it someday. You've got some real potential, you know!
... woah... really? ... uh, thanks! ... i hope i get good enough to make... a dragon! >:D
Yeah... making a dragon would be fun... I've never tried making a dragon before, but I'd definitely not want to do it in the house. They're huge and have, like, a hundred heads.
a hundred?! ... i think i prefer the ones with just one... :(
Don't worry, I'm sure you can make one with a singular head! It's just Jerry has a hundred heads and I have a hard time imagining them otherwise... We also have a pet dragon named Jerry, by the way. He's really friendly but also really big.
woahhh... can i ride jerry? please? please please please please please! :)
Well, we'd have to give you some training on dragon safety first, but after that, sure! You can ride Jerry!
[BECK cautiously approaches PARANOID-TRIANGLE yet again.]
...uh... hey. I, uh, wanted to ask you something.
