I've got something really fun for you today! This set is inspired by and dedicated to my dear friend @doctorsimcraft. I wanted to make something for her Witchy 50s inspired Gen 2, as well as give her some separates she could mix and match for her characters and townies! There's a ton of fun colors and patterns, and I really think you'll have a blast cooking up combos like a cauldron full of mac and cheese. This set includes 19 pieces: 6 tops, 4 bottoms, 2 fullbody swimsuits, an Accessory Belt Overlay and a bunch of WITCH HATS!

My old friend, Natalia, dropped around this morning to share a cup of tea with me. It seems like only yesterday we were little children playing in the school music rooms! I’ve felt so terribly rotten lately - between the housework, my work at the library, and helping Julie with the girls, I’ve not had time to take some sorely needed time for myself. Before, Pete and Fred would have helped shake this dreadful melancholy... Dear Natalia’s company was a wonderful help. She insisted I must try and take time for herself - knowing from experience of course after the passing of her father when we were girls. She has a point... But how can I indulge while the fighting still rages overseas?

It has been some months since I have been able to bring myself to write, but life goes on without my brothers as it will simply have to. The air of mourning in the house is not quite so pervasive now. Julie seems a little brighter - throwing herself into caring for the girls, with my help of course - and I have taken up a job as a typewriter at the local library. It was Freddie who taught me to type, of course, and Peter was always a bookworm, so I always think of them while I tap away at the buttons. 

The house feels so different without them. I don’t think I will feel quite right until this blasted war is over.

The baby has been born - a sister for Dorothy. Sweet Matilda makes quite the midwife, even in her young years. Frederick and I never got the chance to talk about names. In the end, I decided on Martha - I hope he would have liked it.

Yet it seems even the miracle of childbirth cannot raise the oppressive mood that has descended on us since Fred and Peter’s passing. Tilly does her best, but I am still so dreadfully lonely, and I think she is too. I do not know what to do with myself, these days.

Mrs Julie Barrow and Miss Matilda Barrow,

It is my painful duty to inform you of the passing of your husband and brother, respectively, misters Peter and Frederick Barrow. During an assault on the enemy forces, Frederick was struck by a piece of shell. In an attempt to get his brother to safety, Peter too was hit, and the pair died of their injuries. 

They passed valiantly defending the sacred cause of king and country, yet words do not suffice to express our grief over their passing. 

Rest assured, the brothers have been laid to eternal rest in a military ceremony alongside several of their other fallen comrades, and their souls commended to the loving care of our Lord. I also enclose a recent photograph taken of the brothers reunited, in the hope that their memory may console you.

3. where do you get inspiration?

when it comes to actual story events i usually like to play it by ear and see what the sims whims are, and get my ideas from there! but in a more general sense i'm very inspired by various brilliant historical simmers including yourself 😅

16. whats your favorite post?

this one was really hard to decide! but i'm very fond of the gentleman's club meeting where we learnt a little bit more about michael. in hindsight i kind of wish i had gotten better screenshots, but hey there's only so much you can do especially once you have more than a handful of sims in a room. under the cut is a particularly great screenshot i got that didn't exactly match peter's unflirty repressed nature, but got a good giggle out of me!

I was told there would be new recruits arriving in our trench today ahead of the big push - imagine my surprise to see Frederick and my old school chum Clarence! How strange to see them here - but welcome, of course, I have missed them so. We caught up and remenisced over our school days over a game of cards, and then slept side by side in the dugout - almost like when we used to share a room as boys. It is a wonderful comfort to have such familiar faces by my side, especially as plans are made to go over the top.

My darling husband,

I know it is so soon since you left, but I cannot help but write. Enclosed is a picture of our little baby Dorothy... she has a fine head of hair now and has even taken her first few steps! How I wish you were here to see it. I miss you awfully. All I want is to go dancing once again with my beau, is that so much to ask? When this is all over, you must bring back some food and wine from wherever it is you are stationed and we can have a darling little picnic.

Your sister, bless her heart, has been such a doll, and a tremendous help with Dot. It is particularly needed... I have been feeling somewhat nauseous and I have a suspicion as to why... You must hurry back as soon as you can! In the meantime, try not to get into too much trouble - I know you were always a cheeky one.

Please oh please write back when you can. I want to hear about all the exciting adventures you are having across the ocean!

How happy I am to hear from you! I hope it is not too dreadfully cold. Remind me to teach you how to darn your socks when you return, I don’t believe mother ever taught you. In more cheerful news - Fred and Julie’s child has been born, a healthy girl they have named Dorothy. I’ve been helping look after her, she is the most charming little thing! 

It seems I will be helping further with the childcare in the upcoming months. Freddie plans to work for another month or so before enlisting, so little Dot has plenty to eat. Between you and me, I’m awfully upset about it. I miss you both terribly. (Speak a word of this to him and I shall do the most terrible things to you.)

How happy I was to recieve your good news! And congratulations to Julie and Fred. My apologies for the late reply. As you have probably deduced from the newspapers, we have been ...rather busy. I am out in the trenches now, and while I am not allowed to go into too much detail, safe to say I am looking forward to a nice cup of tea and a warm bed when I return. You and Julie shall have to help me get all this blasted mud off my uniform. I haven’t been this filthy since Singwell tracked mud all over my Sunday best!

I do hope this letter will reach you on your travels. We are all thinking of you here in Windenburg. Frederick is still at home for now, as Julie is expecting - how exciting! He has been working extra hard at his typewriting job to put a little money away. He has even been able to redecorate our little cottage with all sorts of modern amenities. You must come visit when you return home!

I have left Britechester, taken on a bus out to the remote countryside to commence my military training. It will be a few months of teaching us the ropes before we are to commence overseas, I am told. The city was littered with enlistment posters when I left. With a little luck, I should be back within the year.

It is official. We are now at war. The university is not suspending classes, but is encouraging anyone able to enlist to fight on the front lines. I cannot, in good conscience, continue to study while the country is in such danger... and I believe my dear father, if he were still with us, would want me to take action. A strange sort of calm has come over me - I am to undergo a medical exam first thing in the morning, and if all is suitable, I will be away to fight for king and country.

Frederick and Julie are married at last. The wedding took place barely a week after father’s funeral - they were not able to rearrange the chapel hire - and though his loss was deeply felt, the family put on a brave face and a bittersweet celebration was had by all. It is always sweet to reunite with friends and loved ones, though - Adam even brought his sister, Lily, who I haven’t seen since our school days. We must not take these dear friendships for granted, these days.
