Joanna’s Character Board
Joanna is the second creation of my Seventh Sanctum Generator project! Her initial description came out as follows:
This solemn magical girl’s almond eyes are the colour of the deepest rubies and her long, curly, silky, lilac hair is tied up in a utilitarian manner. She has wide hips and a feminine body. She has fire powers that come from a little glass bottle. Her uniform is red and black and glows mysteriously.
I’m really enjoying this mini project and I think it has really provided me with a non-pressurised way to work, meaning I can focus on progressing! Watch this space for more character boards!Â
Alicia’s Character Board
I have found that my art block is niggling, but I can overcome it by using the Seventh Sanctum Generators!
Alicia’s initial description:
This gentle magical girl has slitted peach-colored eyes and short, curly, silky, red hair worn in a dignified style. She has an hourglass build. She has demon powers that are invoke by a spear. Her uniform is red and gray, and it resembles a military uniform.
As you can see, I have really just run with the details that piqued my imagination, starting with the initial sketch in the middle, branching to the over-the-shoulder portrait to work out details in her red, curly, silky, hair and military jacket, finishing with the grey boots.
Drawing is made a little easier when decisions about character are made for me- allowing me to get on with practising! Even if I don’t stick to the random description, or end up mashing several different results together, I am hugely appreciative of the freedom this tool has given me to get on with it. This exercise also gave me a short project to focus on whilst broadening my sphere of practice- I rarely ever take the time to focus on practising shoes!
It me.
