Hiatus is kind of over and I'm back to posting! I thought about this awhile ago and could not get it out of my head

Orion Pax was born in a laboratory, a desparate attempt from humanity to try to save themselves from destruction. Based on an ancient legend, he was made of sparkflowers- a legendary bloom meant to mark the path to paradise. It is said that the wolves, now thought to be extinct, are the only ones who know how to follow the path. Though his creation was successful, he was in a deep sleep and without “life”. Unable to wake him, it was thought the experiment was a failure.

Orion is broken out of the lab by a wolf drawn to his scent. Megatron is weary and ragged, holding out on one last hope to lead his people to paradise. When he catches the scent of sparkflowers, he follows it, remembering the old legends. Fighting the humans, his blood is spilt and Orion awakens for the first time with it. An unexplainable connection is made between them, and Megatron decides impulsively to rescue the stranger. He knows something about Orion is important.

A young wolf and sometimes naive, Orion wants to save the world. His kindness easily draws others to him, though at times he can seem alien. He has little knowledge of the world, and though he has suffered at the hands of the humans who made him, he remains pure of heart. He is closest to Megatron, who he shares a strange connection to, though their ideals and methods clash.

Been watching Welcome To Derry and seeing some people critique the nightmare horror scenes for being "goofy" is kind of confusing me because like...yeah???

IT is a fundamentally goofy premise; shapeshifting horror clown alien from space lives in the sewers scaring and eating children and makes the town evil with its evil mind powers. If you aren't here for the horror getting a bit goofy with it then idk if you actually like IT so much as you like an imagined platonic ideal of IT.

I think people recognise the very obvious and rich themes all bundled up in that gonzo premise and want those somehow divorced from the core goofiness but like that just doesn't seem like it'd ever work?

If someone adapted the premise without ever going a bit gonzo, like they just never acknowledge that aspect, i think i would feel embarassed? Like the same feeling i get when an adult comic book fan tries to strip away as much goofiness from Ninja Bat Detective vs Al Capone Clown as they possibly can in an effort to prove to onlookers that the thing they like is actually very grown up. It would feel deeply insecure to me.

Like when they made that remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, that kept trying to impress upon you that its very serious and scary and fucked up? With seemingly no awareness that the premise revolves around a nightmare monster man with a silly outfit and knife fingers who fucking gets you in the dreamworld.

Still waiting on whether the show is gonna really grab me (and I have my own critiques already) but i've enjoyed these two episodes amping the campy schlock up while, in universe, playing it all straight. Uncle Sam needs Pennywise to stop the commies' nukes.
