Neither of them knows it yet, but years later they will find themselves bound by an affection running deeper than they can afford. or: The pre-canon tale of how Arthur and Sean fall in love with each other.

The time has come and the first chapter of this fic that has been plaguing my brain for months is finally out!

Eddie and Ike through the years

The first thing that Ike ever says to Eddie is “I want to fight you.“ He walks up to him, their parents busy chatting away. That is a bad idea, of course. Ike is half rosy cheeked cherub and half sewer rat, grass stained jeans, hand-me-down sweatshirt from his older sister, snotty nose and all. Eddie is heavier built than him and taller. He also wears a cool Pokémon cap; all good reasons for Ike, the insecure new kid in town, to start a fight with him.

Eddie wrinkles his nose in confusion.

“How old are you?”, he asks with the obnoxious fake patience of a kid that knows he’s older one.

“I’m nine”, Ike lies, who is about to turn eight next week and who’s got no friends here to celebrate with.

“You’re lying”, Eddie accuses him, now annoyed, “I’m eight”, outrageously implying that he’s more grown up than Ike.

My next Pride art. You guys suggested Melinoë and Nemesis from Hades 2.

I drew the background traditionally while melting in my room, using acrylic gouache and colored pencils. Afterward, I added the characters digitally.

I really like the traditional & digital mix. I should do that more often.

I’ve been learning lots by doing these portraits. I really struggled with this one because I overworked it, I think. She looked a bit uncanny, too smooth. I think I managed to save it in the end though.
