I'm deciding I'm pretty much going cold turkey ever talking about any discourse surrounding TADC's writing, its production, or its creators or cast. There are important discussions to be had on these things, of course, but if I insert that Sam Eagle 'you are all weirdos' gif I'm gonna feel mean so just let it be known I regret ever getting this involved with any of this.

Quick Update

So I saw Episode 9 yesterday, and I want to let that people know that this blog, Sherbet's Gate, and anything else I might have are going to remain spoiler-free until June 20th.

That being said, I'm going to keep working on Red Dead Confection AU, and Gummigoo's Digital Days, and probably a few oneshots here and there. I expect it to take a while for either to finish, and I'm really grateful for the time to be in the fandom and for all of the support I've been getting for it.

There's a lot more Funnygummy content coming, that's for sure.

I know I've made it clear I have my various qualms with Goose lately but I find it wild how many people have jumped to the conclusion that she's a terrible person because she...said she based Jax on herself. Like, do you know how many creators who have made antagonists based on their least favorite parts of themselves would instantly be rendered horrible people by those standards?

I feel like there is definitely a point to be made here that TADC was created with the intent to be an underground indie series with a style that only appealed to a select audience that by the stars aligning blew up way beyond the reach it was ever intended to, and that's how we ended up with the content farms, the weird theories and bad analyses made by people who are prioritizing views and likes, the children who've never been in a fanbase before this one and don't know how to behave etc. That I think is a valid complaint to have.

But yeah can we just take the term 'media literacy' out behind the shed already

I get YA novels tend to have teenage/young adult protagonists because there tends to be a level of reader self-insertion and it's easier for people to project onto a character within their age range but when you hear just how young some of these protagonists are it becomes kind of hard to fathom. I'm 20 years old, look like an undercooked dumpling with facial hair and can't even go out in public by myself without getting anxious, the fuck do you mean this freshly 18-year-old has been appointed leader of a fae army in preparation for a world war and also has seduced half a dozen men in the process

I feel like VOD editors hold up Youtube the same way Atlas holds up the heavens. Imagine your job is sifting through 6-10 hours of Ultrakill or REPO footage or whatnot trying to dig out something that would be a digestible highlight reel between all the deadpan ‘thank you for the donation’s and awkward beats of silence

What do you think Novvet would be like if he was born and raised in the Sherbert's Gate AU as opposed to the Gummigoo Revival AU?

Oooh that’s a good one! And a bit of a tricky one, lol - if @vashonian wants to pitch in to turn this into a collaborative effort at all, since he knows his own AU better than anyone. I’d say Novvet’s core personality and interests would stay relatively the same, just with a few tweaks - I’d imagine he’d be more self-sufficient and trained in the classics like survival, combat, banditry etc. since RDC’s Candy Canyon is definitely a lot more cutthroat than the GRAU’s Circus. Assuming he’s born and raised in Sherbet’s Gate itself, he might still have an affinity for acrobatics, but I think he’d mostly trade it for an interest in roller skating, having easy access to the rink and all. (And doesn’t notice the owner looks weirdly like his dad - we don’t want him noticing that, actually.) And he’d definitely be close with his extended family, I imagine Max and Chad would try being responsible uncles/godfathers but somehow end up in a bunch of mildly dangerous hijinks with him.
