Beer Review #3: Harpoon Brewery's Rec. League (hazy pale ale)
4.0% ALC/VOL
As a runner training for marathons, I naturally developed the 'post-workout beer drinking' habit. Beer always quenched my thirst quickly, and it has been a perfect reward for my hard, strenuous run.
When I began to be more mindful of what beer I should drink after work-outs, I learned about the performance beers at trendhunter.com. So, I grabbed the Rec. League hazy pale ale from Harpoon Brewery because it is a popular performance beer.
Overall, the beer is refreshing and a bit salty, hinting the beer's surplus of minerals. The light, crispy taste at the first gulp forced my throat to open for more beer. The smooth texture coated the interior of my mouth, tranquilizing my taste buds. It is perfect for the post-workout drink because of its low ABV and calories. The beer's high-mineral contents help the runners recover electrolytes lost via sweating , thereby preventing hyponatremia. Also, chia seeds and buckwheat included in the beer delivers a rich supply of nutrients, including omega-3, vitamin Bs, and antioxidants.
Beer Review #2: Cambridge Brewing Company's Working Class Hero (American Saison ale with citrus peel)
4.5% ALC/VOL
After reading the book "The Brewer's Tale" by William Bostwick to learn the history of beer worldwide, I gained interest in different kinds of beer, including Saison. Also known as the farmhouse ale, Saison beers are dry, highly carbonated, and fruity.
As the farmers in the French-speaking Wallonia region of Belgium brewed Saison to drink after a hard day of work in hot summer months, I gulped down the Cambridge Brewing Company's American saison ale after my work and exercise. The beer was exceptionally light and carbonated, and it quickly quenched my thirst as it flowed down my throat. It is a beer that non-beer lovers will also like, and I recommend that you drink it after a strenuous exercise.
Beer Review #1: Samuel Adam's Wicked Hazy Juicy New England IPA. (6.8% ALC/VOL)
This IPA is packed with juicy orange aroma. The label indicates that I can also enjoy the flavor of mango and pineapple but I personally cannot taste those fruits. The beer tastes clean but "cloudy" or "hazy" compared to session IPAs that I usually enjoy drinking. When I gulp down this beer, satiating spiciness lingers in the back of my tongue, motivating me to crave more of this juicy IPA.
