Nobody does a look book quite like For Love and Lemons. Their Fall collection is brilliantly royal. I had no idea that my autumn wardrobe was missing a crown, I must amend that immediately.Â

Next month, I’m hitting the road in a major way.Â
August 6-11: Boise, Idaho
August 21-23: Princeton, New Jersey
August 26-30: Los Angeles, California
I’m not built to sit still and I’m pretty sure that the conveyor belt lifestyle of the Midwest exacerbates my nature.Â
Can’t wait to fly, fly, fly.Â
The odd, unconventional beauty of today’s most successful models is largely the result of the vision of one woman. Meet Ashley Brokaw, fashion’s most unlikely power player.
Fashion has become so interesting, I love looking at the faces, the wonky walks...so much personality! Like the clothes themselves! A very good read about a fascinating industry woman.Â
I start a new phase every time For Love & Lemons releases a  lookbook. Their design, their eye for color, their set design...what I wouldn’t give to see even a glimpse of their moodboards.

California, California, California, California.Â
Made it down to LA for the first time. That city is a unicorn dripping in vomit- a smelly, gnarly mess, yet beneath the grime lies something truly precious. Spent time with two of my dearest friends, the kind of gals who make sure that your college bedroom is consistently hobo spider free.
I knew that the coast would be beautiful- it inspires movies, songs, art, relocations...But, no image or poem or television show could prepare my eyeballs for the blues I saw, the salt I smelled, the shadows of the cliffs that blocked that infamous West Coast sun. It was a dream and a nightmare and I can’t wait to return. That city has a nasty, wild, genuine spirit that’s truly addicting.Â
Thanks Los Angeles.Â
It’s been a month since we came and went from dreamy Mexico City. A capitol of creative chaos and free spirits , there’s truly no place like it. The colors, the smells, the crowds, the mess of flora and concrete overspilling from every corner and crevice of the DF- my mind is still reeling. What a blessing and a pleasure that trip was.Â

airbnb, your Memphis game is strong.
O Memphis!Â
Thursday night we took the overnight Amtrak out of Union Station. Our sleeping quarters were about the size of a small closet, but we didn't mind too much. Visions of abandoned main streets, cheap red wine, and a muted train whistle lulled us to sleep.Â
We arrived in Memphis around 7 AM and after a blurry cab ride arrived at our Air BnB. We couldn't believe our good fortune. Our simple rental turned out to be a  lofty studio with wood floors, wide windows, and an antique furniture collection that made my heart beat a little faster than usual. Located smack dab in the middle of the downtown area made it easy for us to travel by foot just about anywhere.Â
I'll it  short & sweet, but man, did that city treat us well. I've listed some recommendations below, if you ever find yourself in those parts.Â
Central BBQ: The ribs, baby, the ribs. Order the spicy beans + mac n cheese along with your ribs, and I promise, you'll be pleased as punch. J and I joked that the second those ribs hit the table, we both silently dove into 'em and didn't speak till our plates were licked clean.Â
Grizzlies Game:Â Located next to the very popular Beale Street, is the Grizzlies stadium, and you know what, it's worth hitting up a game if you've got the time. Dancing ribs, flames shooting out of the hoops, fireworks, the entertainment doesn't disappoint.Â
Rum Boogie's Cafe Blues Hall:Â We went back here Friday & Saturday night. An intimate space with kickass live music. It was always packed to the gills, yet we somehow always found a place to safely store our bulky winter coats. A must-see if you're into live music.Â
Paula and Raiford's Disco: I LOVED it here. The decor was 100% Valentine's Day Acid Trip Magic. The dance floor was a ton of fun, with live drummers playing along to the music, and the vibe was weird as hell- in the best way possible. If you like to keep it freEaAkY, you got to check this joint out.Â
I can't wait to go back, I really can't.Â
“Love is really just a one-way street. You can’t really get love, but it’s like sunlight; it’s always coming out of you. A lot of people in the world want love, but love isn’t a property that you can have. It’s only a property that can be given.” - Wayne Coyne
Kale&Egg Chèvre&Salsa That's what hiding beneath my flowers.
Memphis & Mexico City on the horizon. Keeping my eyes on the sun. If you've got recs for a curious visitor, send 'em my way. I'm hungry for warm winds and adventure.Â
Mara Hoffman making my wild west dreams come true. Her new line is a beautiful romance between tropical daydream and the cactus garden that lives in my brain.Â

Memphis Bound
Hullo Dearies,
My fellow & I took a tiny hop of faith and bought train tickets to Memphis at the end of February. What's good in Memphis? I hate to say unfortunately, but...well....unfortunately, we are in the throes of Sober February, so boozy fun aside, what are the must-sees? Looking forward to seeing what that fine city has to offer a couple of Winter Wrecked Chicagoans. Â
Oh, how I enjoy Chicago's Dose Market! This weekend, Dose brought us to the oh-so-chic Soho House for a baby market. Miniature for sure, but big on personality! Pink, puffy pastries for Valentine's Day, gentle, swaying scents from Remix, fantastical lingerie from Samantha Sleeper...I suppose February isn't so dreary after all.
For the past few years, I've been a regular attendee at Dose and it's been so much fun to see this local "flea market" grow. Dose champions the best small businesses in town- everyone from home goods shop Alapash to local beekeepers Bike a Bee.Â
The music is always banging, the food delish, and as of late, they've been doling out free drinks- not hard to see why a Dose message in our inbox sends my friends and me into a champagne bubble kind of tizzy.Â
Dose attracts the most stylish cats in town, it's a great event to cruise through when you could use a little extra spark igniting your creative fire.Â
All in all, a Sunday well spent!Â
