Venus in Fur (play) - Hugh Dancy as Thomas Novachek

Hugh Dancy stars in this two-person play-within-a-play as Thomas Novachek, a writer-director seeking to cast an actress to play the character of Vanda in his play based off the book "Venus in Fur". This book is about a man (Severin) who is infatuated with a woman named Vanda and desires to be her slave and encourages her to treat him in progressively more degrading ways. Enter Vanda Jordan, an actress who Thomas sees potential in for playing the character of Vanda, whom she shares a name with. The two begin to work their way through the script, with Thomas playing the part of Severin. Vanda begins to exert control over Thomas and the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur.

There are a lot of great whump moments in this play, though most of them don't start to happen until the final 20ish minutes of the play. Within this time, we see Wanda grab Thomas by the hair and put a knife to his throat. Thomas is collared and Wanda grabs and twists the collar multiple times to exert control over him. In the final five minutes of the show, Wanda ties Thomas to a post using two sets of stockings, one looped from behind his neck and around his arms behind the post and one wrapped around the post and his chest. Once he is tied to the post, Wanda drops the act and calls Thomas out for putting on such a degrading play. She grabs his face and forces him to look at himself tied up in a mirror. She grabs his throat, slaps his face, and pulls on his collar. Thomas falls to his knees, swearing as he realizes he's gotten himself into quite the predicament. As Vanda dons a fur coat, Thomas demands to know who she is, but she states that Thomas already knows. Thomas then shouts, "Hail Aphrodite!" revealing that Wanda was Aphrodite (aka Venus) all along.

As stated above, there are a lot of great whump moments, especially once Hugh is tied to the post. I love seeing a man tied up and Hugh Dancy tied up is an especially nice treat. The full version of this play currently is available on YouTube on the account of coleslawboy69.
