     Who says he WANTS him off?  No, Yuugi was far more content to slip an arm around Atems shoulders and welcome him into his lap. Only moving him at all to make them both a bit more more comftorble.

He didn’t even need to actively pull Mahaad, the duelist’s panic was enough to make the dark wizard appear.

     Ooc: A probably dumb hc I have and would love to do more with:

 I personally like to think Yuugi is the real KING of Darkness, not Atem.  Atem had darkness thrust on his shoulders when in truth he never wanted anything to do with it. He’s a person of light, of passion and devotion. Idunoitsreallydumb but it feels to me more like it was something grafted onto his soul. I’m not saying he can’t control it! Or that the shadows bend to his will and the light of his power like no other, but it’s something he had to learn to become familiar with. At one point (when we first meet him in the series) he’s CONSUMED by darkness and negativity. He CAN’T handle it.  Until he meets Yuugi.  Yuugi isn’t abrasive toward anything really, he doesn’t order others, or demand. He asks. And to me, Evil and negativity isn’t something you can bully into submission, you have to coax it, work with it. BEFRIEND IT TO WORK IN HARMONY.  It just makes a little more sense to me that Yuugi as a person is able to not just ask for the help of darkness, but he’s PROTECTED by it (again, check back to when Atem was Yami and just murderin people for hurting his ‘host’ (which for a hc within a hc I think was also him mimicking a certain wizard who left an imprint even on his broken mind).).  I think Yuugi is the King of Darkness because he communes with it, understands it, and empathizes with it and those lost completely to it too (like he does everything).  But I’m dumb legit and this is just be rambling about my tiny mall goth

Is your OTP Puzzleshipping by any chance? You write them so sweetly, I can really feel the love you put into them, as I can with all of your threads, but especially Puzzleshipping!

     Ooc: Oh my Goodness, thank you so ding dang much! I really appreciate that Much to my own surprise (and probably most of my partners) Puzzleshipping isn’t my OTP! Well, it is, but also not. I honestly have a ton of fun writing it, and my long time friend @nefertemu can always get me really passionate about any of our threads (SERIOUSLY GO FOLLOW THEM THEY’RE AMAZING!), but Rivalshipping is actually my favorite to read and plot with.

His head straightened up slowly, a look of surprised replacing expectancy.

“The zoo?”

When did he go to the zoo last? He couldn’t remember ever going, but he remembered wanting to take his sister and not having the money for tickets. He remembered hearing all about the animals, in all shapes and colors…

Yugi thought of him when buying those tickets, never having gone himself. He could bring just about anyone else, if he wanted to. But here he was, awkward again like they were back in high school, offering tickets to go to this weird animal collecting place.

It felt like a weird jigsaw that snapped into place, pieces shifting and changing colors until something almost reasonable came to mind.

When was the last time they spent the day together, just hanging out and having fun? Of course, Yugi wouldn’t want to lose out on that. Of course he’d want to spend more time with Joey.

The blond blinks slowly before a warm smile spread across his lips.

“I hadn’t gone either,” he admitted, sheepishly. “So.. this seems as good a time as any!” His smile widened, eyes lit up as he started getting excited about the idea. “We’ll go together, then! And we can take pictures! When are we going?”

   Yuugi beamed wide enough it left him feeling near exhausted. Even if it was only a single day they BOTH deserved a vacation. They weren’t kids anymore, but that didn’t mean they had to completely grow up!  Slinging arms around Joeys chest Yuugi couldn’t stop himself from trying to squeeze Joey with just as much vigor and strength as the other did him. He came up a bit-- short.  “We can go right now if you have the time! Or you could stay over any we could head out in the morning, I never new Domino had such a HUGE zoo! There’s a bird canopy, and a HUGE reptile house, and you can hold an OWL! A REAL OWL, JOU! They do these rescue education things, they have one named Peanut that likes to hug. Jou. It. HUGS. GODS IT’S SO DAMN ADORABLE!”

 Biting his lip he rocked back and forth on the heels of his sneakers.

It’s hard not to immediately protest. Nothing would ever drive them apart. Jou would never forget Yugi or their friendship, no matter how busy they got.

No. Yugi was trying to speak. Years of being around Yugi had shown Jonouchi his growth. With a bit of patience, Yugi would say what was on his mind.

So the blond waited, head tilted to the side and brows raised. Yugi had his full attention.

     It did take a moment to gather his thoughts, his mind was going a mile a minute. Putting possible scenarios only to tear them apart moments later. Was this childish? It felt childish, why would Jounochi want to go to a stupid zoo...  But, no, the blonde wouldn’t think it was stupid! Or at least, he’d pretend not to if he did, but Jou was a bad liar, just like he was...  Yuugi noted how dry his mouth felt.  Since when was he this nervous around his best friend.  “I uh, got some tickets to the Domino Zoo. It’s dumb, but I’ve never been as long as I’ve lived in the city.” Which WAS his whole life...at least, since he was eight.
