â Youâre pretty popular on my streams Mr. West. Chat gets really excited when you show up in the background!! â Along with the special made emoticon for Herb
There is no real verbal response, West not entirely sure he should know this "Chat" person or not. Ricky seems to assume he would know, and as such all the elder has to offer is a single cocked eyebrow.
Blood coats the scientist's smock -- at least having put on an apron before experimenting that day. He had noticed Ricky talking to his computer, had noticed the cameras - but had not paid it any serious mind. Too focused on the reagent, too mind numbingly CLOSE to his goal that everything else (eating, sleeping, breathing) was an annoying afterthought.
One of Ricky's friends got excited when he... walked past?
"How nice of him."

Guys please reply to this with what your url means or references Iâm really curious
self indulgent but I think about how distraught Dan musta been after the first movie events and how Herbert was the closest thing he had to a friend at the time
Glaring as he stood over the fallen scientist, Achim said nothing because West⌠was absolutely right in his analysis of the situation. With one more kick to the face, the infamous glasses of the other were completely snapped in half. âYe are not the only one who knows what they are doing hereâŚâ      The black coated boss wasnât afraid to kill him off if this were to go further, but for now he did need Herbert⌠at least for the time being. There will be a time where his usefulness will be obsolete. Of course, he wasnât going to tell West that, a knife in the back whenever the time sees fit is a good enough message to send.      âGo to the medbay, theyâll help with ye injuries.â
Even if his yelp at being kicked in the head was the most pitiful sound to escape, West still couldn't help but laugh. Holding his face with one hand, blood beginning to dribble from shattered glass-- he couldn't help but smile like an idiot. A kid at his birthday party. Quills, bloodloss, broken ribs and a rapidly swelling black eye? Nothing. He'd won this round.
His boss -- for the time being anyway -- hadn't offered a rebuttal, because they both knew what he'd said was right. He was too valueable to kill. However, it seemed it had come at a steep price, but it was still not death he'd recieved.
Smug as ever (or as smug as one could be blind and on the brink of passing out) West smirked before standing. Using whatever he could as leveredge to get off the floor, arm hanging limp, he couldn't help but smile.
"Glad we had this talk. I do love working with you."
Head held high, hoping his blood would stain the floor after he left, West stepped confidently in blurriness towards what looked like an open door. Not mentioning how he might collapse at any moment, not bringing to light he could barely see in the haze. No. Only pride was offered. Achim wouldn't see him break; West would die before he showed weakness. (Or possibly pass out, but he'd go as far as he could.)
"You can expect a report when I finally corner it in the vents and get it under control."
How it took 3 movies for Herbert to be arrested astounds me.Â
âEver since ye arrived here, ye have done nothing but disrespect me. I am yer boss now⌠I get to choose whether ye live or die. Beating ye to the point of near death, striking ye with some of my quills should serve as a good reminder of ye position in the chain of command here.â Achim continually paced around the fallen scientist, a wide smirk on his face.      âYe are nothing but a worker bee in this hive. Easily replaced by the one next in line. There are many interns that would love yer position. And I know of a certain somebody that would eat yer body in a heartbeat.â Crouching down, his glowing blue eyes locked onto Herbertâs own, his lip curling into a snare to show off his sharp teeth.
âJust because yeâve played god doesnât mean yeâre above being beat down back to earth. Now⌠are we on the same page?â
West bit his lip -- then thought better of it to fight for another intake of breath. Still wheezing, struggling to regulate his breathing. He had certainly broken a rib or two... were the quills venomous? It would be surprising if the head honcho got rid of his star player (in Westâs opinion, anyway) just for mouthing off. No. He wouldnât. They both knew it.
Gripping one of the quills led to an almost involuntary intake of breath, but with shaking hands, out it came.
maybe heâd wait for painkillers to pull the rest.
âYou think -- just anyone can -- play god like me? Youâre -- ah.. youâre a fool to think so. Look around, Lankanotvitch. Iâm the only one who knows how. Do you -- do you see anyone else bringing the dead back to this waking world? You WISH I was disposable.â
Panting now, the room spinning, West refused to give up. Breathless, struggling -- he would not give his boss the satisfaction. Kill him, see what happens. Either way, West won.
âYou surround yourself with idiots -- wallow in jealous insignificance-- and have the gall to tell me Iâm just a cog in your machine? Iâm the only one in this fucking institute -- who knows what heâs doing. You kill me, you lose out on the secret of life after death. You really.... really want that?â
gay judgement.
Ahah. An in. She looks unsure, curious even. Just like Dan, the fool. Even if he messed this attempt up, he had several other ideas on how to get out alive.
âReally. Just parts?â
He isnât as shocked as he should be, hadnât cried, hasnât begged â he knows heâs smarter than everyone in a fifty mile radius, product and producer put together. All he has to do is convince her.
âAlright. You look like a smart girl. Do you go by weight? Or is 10 pounds of one cut worth more than 10 pounds of another? Iâm willing to round upâ because I will be honest, Iâm not a butcher, missâŚ.?â
Plus, his stomach is throbbing. Heâd rather not go through that again.
@liminalstctic
â A doctor huh? â She mutters quietly in thought. Can she really make this kind of decision on her own? She feels like sheâs gonna get in trouble if she makes any sort of deals with meat. â That sure is a lotta money mister. You really got that much with ya? âÂ
Maybe he would be worth more alive if he was rich. Especially if they could just sell some meat to him. But this could always be some sorta trick. Oh she doesnât know what to do!Â
Patting his jacket pocket, heâs relieved to know she hadnât taken his wallet. Though even if she had, he could have easily explained that yes, itâs a rather small sum of money to him. For how much trouble he can get into on a regular basis, having cash on hand is a must.
âI have at least two thousand on me right now. I had intended to bribe officials to let me in the conference, but plans change.â
Fishing it free, he knows better than to try handing it to her. Even though heâs the one behind bars, she already looks like a scared, timid animal. Wonât eat from his hand, but might have some interest if he throws it towards her. The small leather wallet lands with a thump in front of her, and true to his word if she looked, there would be several stacks of 100$ bills.
âAnd I have more. Iâm not playing games. You let me go, we can do business. And, I can assume you like law enforcement as much as I do. Which is to say not at all.â
She watches him for a moment before she cautiously leans down and picks it up. She opens it and looks inside curiously, he wasnât lying! There was a whole heap of money in there!! The most sheâs ever seen meat have.Â
She looks up before frowning slightly, oh she doesnât know what to do! The right thing seems to be to let him go and make a deal, but will she get in trouble again? She got her ass whooped for trying to trap this guy!Â
â MmmhâŚ.you jusâ want a whole body? â Sheâs not sure how the cops fit into it but she makes the big decision: she unlocks the cage.Â
"Two thousand should pay for me, at least."
Oh. oh it actually-- she actually unlocked the cage! West straightened his cracked glasses and adjusted his tie. Acting as distinguished as he possibly could walking out from captivity. And, what could've possibly been death.
"I'd like my wallet back however, but keep the money. I figure two thousand is enough to convince your family."
He knew it would be hard, but at least she complied. And if he could get the same response from whoever RAN the establishment, he'd be set. Fresh corpses? Unless he killed them himself, this might just be a blessing in disguise. Even if he didn't believe in that sort of thing. Lucky lucky lucky. Always just barely enough lucky.
"My research will work with parts-- cuts of meat, in this case, but I'd much rather work with whole bodies. Granted there is minimal damage to the brain, they're that much more valueable."
