Such a strange question to ask! Beirnwyn blinked at the abrupt change of subject, feeling rather put off at the segway from what was sure to be a thrilling story to the boring subject of her family. “I am the youngest of my family,” She admitted, “So they treat me like a cub instead of the adult I am!” Indignant at the perceived slights, she certainly was verifying the very reasons her family did indeed treat her as an adolescent not ready for certain responsibilities. “I will prove to them that I am ready for adventure. Did the princess of your story ever show her parents she was ready? I bet she did!”

Thranduil was unsurprised by that piece of information. It seemed that the youngest - even more than the only-children, such as himself and Legolas - had nothing to remind them of responsibilities, nobody to worry about or to protect.

“The princess got into an awful lot of trouble, and narrowly escaped death a few times, but in the end she did manage to join her lover and together they went to face the biggest threat Middle Earth had ever known. Somehow they managed to get a magical stone from his crown - this stone would allow her to marry her lover.”

He paused, thinking that this was perhaps not the best choice of story to prove his point, especially as the young Beorning seemed completely immune to the worry a parent might feel. “And then a wolf bit her lover’s hand off, the one that was holding the stone. They chased it back to her father’s land, where the wolf was finally slain. Her lover died in the process. She was so grieved that she chose to join him. This was exactly what her father had feared would happen, by the way.”

Whatever the young girl was expecting from the Elvenking's story, this was not quite it. "... That's..." It might have been comical, how put-off the Beorning adolescent looked by the rather aburpt and violent ending, "... Did they at least get to express their love?" Romance had never been much of an interest to Beirnwyn, but the thought of the princess and her lover not being united before their dooms was unsettling. "... What did the father do then?" Perhaps his cautionary tale was finally getting through to her, for her thoughts finally turned in the direction that she had been not-so-subtly nudged towards.
