She hadn’t expected it. The hand that lay a blow on her cheek so harshly she fell to the floor, but there it was, cutting her cheekbone and above her Pius’ heaving chest and bared teeth as he demanded the man of Bellatrix Manor to come forward. He’d grown tired of discussing his problems with women, grown tired of Andromeda’s antics, and that was why he had stormed into their living room, dealing Bella a backhanded slap the moment she stepped in front of her mother and Narcissa. When she felt hands on her shoulders she flinched but looked up at a very red Rodolphus, his anger not dissuading the relief she felt to have him support her.
At the moment he was looking up, demanding Pius he’d mind his manners before he’d find himself without a pureblooded wife to bed that wasn’t cast out as well. For a moment it looked like he was about to say more but Bella gripped his arm and he looked down at her, calming down just enough to lift her up into his arms. “I’ll take her to her maids.” he told Bella’s mother before excusing himself and huffing upstairs. He didn’t say a word as he made the “wrong” turn and took them into one of the spare guests rooms, spelling the door shut before setting her down gently on the bed and placing his hands gently on her face. Rodolphus kneeled in front of her as she evaded his gaze.
“Bell, look at me. Are you alright?” he whispered, and Bella nodded. It was in that moment she realized Andromeda couldn’t marry Pius, but she kept the nudging feeling at bay and instead looked up at her fiance, placing her hand over the one on her cheek. “I’m okay. Thank you, Rodolphus.” she breathed, as he proceeded to heal her himself.
