The Bellworks Manufacturing Co. publicly extends an invitation to all Garlean nationals, citizens, and conscripts fleeing recent unrest. In exchange for Imperial knowledge, the Bellworks guarantees employment, asylum, and identity protection if desired.
Contact our agents in Ul’dah, Ala Mhigo, or Kugane.
A new, more peaceful home awaits you in Eorzea. Let’s work together to build a brighter future for all!

OOC:
The Bellworks has harbored Garleans for a long time. It’s a policy that quietly began under Eliane Requingris and has since expanded significantly under Brave Horizon’s leadership. In light of Ul’dah shifting its refugee approach towards more work-oriented programs, and knowing it’s only a matter of time before its worst-kept secret came to light, the Bellworks has decided to simply come out and say it: we’ll take Garleans.
In exchange for whatever knowledge your character might bring from the Empire -- be it scientific, mechanical, artistic, magical, artisanal, or otherwise -- the Bellworks will do the hard work to ensure your character will have a new, safe home in Eorzea, (theoretically) free from anyone who might come looking for them. (But we all know that RP finds a way).
Interested? Read our FAQ beneath the cut for more info, or hop on our discord with any questions you might have!
Disclaimer: We do not, nor will we ever condone apologism when it comes to imperialism or colonialism OOC, nor does the Bellworks support the Empire IC.

FAQ:
You’re taking Ilsabardians? Who qualifies?
Everyone! It doesn’t matter if you’re a pureblooded Garlean, a miqo’te conscript, or anything in between. We’re looking for any and all characters who have formerly lived in or served the Empire and who now seek a new start way the hell away from it.
My character served in the X Resistance against the Empire. Does that count?
You bet! Get over here, Bozjans, Mhigans, and Dalmascans! Let’s share our knowledge!
My character isn’t an engineer. Can I still apply?
Of course! While the manufactory is the heart of the Bellworks and their primary source of income, an operation of this size requires a myriad of specialists. We need weavers for textiles, sailors for logistics, creative types for advertisements, strong arms for security, and more! We can find a place for people of nearly any profession, whether as an employee of the Bellworks or an independent contractor.
The Empire (and by extension parts of Ilsabard) is advanced in literally everything. They have carbon fiber clothes for Halone’s sake! Is your character a carbon-weaver? Do they know the secrets of flash-freezing ice cream balls? Are they the author of the latest Garlean sci-fi novels? The Bellworks wants to give them an outlet – and a market -- for their passion here in Eorzea!
Naturally, we’re looking to gobble up the STEM-types as well. That’s just a given! We’re hardly moving away from engineering.
How does the Bellworks feel about Imperial loyalists?
It’s natural that your character may have Complicated <tm> feelings about the Empire. All of our existing Garlean deserters/defectors certainly do. While we’re perfectly happy to accept complex characters who are still trying to work things out, however, the Bellworks is straight-up not the place for Imperial loyalists or Garlean nationalists. We’re seeking characters who are at the very least critical of their old home, and seek to either mend its ways or start over away from it.
If I’m not any of the above can I still apply anyway?
Hells yeah! We’ve worked this FC to fit as many character types as possible. We’ve got engineers, machinists, sappers, businesswomen, and pilots, sure. We also have hunters, arcanists, and a historian who speaks like Urianger. We’d love to have you too!
What does the Bellworks offer my character?
The Bellworks began as an Ishgardian manufactory that expanded into Ul’dah. As such it boasts a colorful cast of characters, ranging from poncy elezen to forest witches to taciturn warriors and beyond. It’s become a home for brilliant minds: the mechanical, the magical, and even the historical. As one of the few members of Eorzea’s burgeoning industrial forces, the Bellworks is a good way for your character to both earn a steady living IC while also having an excuse to travel just about wherever they want. After all, we literally make airships!
OOCly the Bellworks is a small-to-medium sized FC that has been around since the late days of ARR. Ours is a silly, homey, laid-back, and inclusive community spanning GMT to PST. We’ve got all the FC amenities, including a medium house in the Goblet.
More importantly, we gather weekly for All The Things, be it content progression, OOC bonding (such as movie nights), or casual RP. We also offer long-form, DM’d adventures exclusively for our members; our current campaign, “Eastbound and Down”, has our crew exploring the Clockwork City of Goug!
My character/FC would have a problem with the Bellworks being so open about recruiting ex-Imperials. Would you be down for conflict?
Assuming we’re all on the same page OOC we’re always happy to plot, so contact the officer team and let’s discuss it!

The Bellworks Manufacturing and Design Company is pleased to announce the Eorzean Punkin Chunkin Competition and All Saints' Wake Festival!
What better way to celebrate the season by hurling pumpkins as far as physics will allow? The Punkin Chunkin Competition is a challenge for any individuals or groups with talent in engineering, machining, and tinkering. The goal is create any kind of the device with the goal of launching a pumpkin as far away from its origin without destroying the pumpkin in the process of releasing it. This can be done by way of a catapult, trebuchet, pneumatic cannon, or any other delivery method you and your team can think of, with a few exceptions detailed below. There will be prizes for the longest lobbers! For those want to watch but not risk life an limb with high-energy gourd deployment, there will also be more traditional All Saints' activities, such as pumpkin carving, spooky storytelling, and other familiar events. Please look forward to joining the Bellworks in this exciting event on Friday, 30 October, at 7 pm EDT! Meet us between the Ul'dah Dispatch Yard and the Royal Plantation in Central Thanalan 22,27!
For those interested in competing, please read the following rules:
- The results of each launch will be determined entirely by in-game /random rolls. More detail in describing and operating your device in character is of course welcome; however, the final results will ultimately be random in nature.
- Each device may have a crew of 1-5 individuals.
- In character, the device may be of almost any design. Some in character limitations are that the device cannot use explosives nor can it discharge aether directly in the launch of the pumpkin. For example, air crystals may be used to pressurize a pneumatic tank, but they cannot imbue the pumpkin directly to make it fly farther. Additionally, please try to make a device that can reasonably be built and operated by Eorzeans in the context of the game's current story. A lost Allagan pumpkin launcher will likely not be accepted.
- There will not be different classes of device. All will compete against each other. Yes, that means a catapult will have the same potential as an intricately built and designed pneumatic cannon. We'll have to suspend our disbelief for the sake of simplicity in running the event.
- If you are interested in joining the competition, please follow this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf009I8hfDaM8XJcV1vziJEZBNanmwbvqpDXvkNnJOAtbzaZg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Please keep an eye out for more details in the coming days.
It's been about five days since the Ashen Rook departed from Limsa Lominsa for Kugane. Their route takes them south of the three great continents, the same route the Warrior of Light took during their first journey to the East. The Rook is following common shipping routes, no reason to do otherwise for this particular trip. The crew of the Rook has been in good spirits since their departure, they have been polite, if a little standoffish of the Bellworks folks. A few conversations reveal that they are simply protective of their ship, and aren't quite sure of what to make of this pack of engineers and demolitionists wandering all over it.
The fight continues for a while longer. It seems the Rook may come out on the other side of this, thanks probably in part to one of the other ship's magazine going up with a deafening explosion. There seems to be a sudden lull in the fracas as everyone involved stops to catch their breath and find their bearings. Kail rises from his scuffle only to find a monster of a Sea Wolf jumping onto the deck in front of him.
Kail gives the Roegadyn a once over, looking suddenly tired. He bends down and picks up a long knife from where it lay on the deck, then straightens and nods to the other Captain. "Toumgara...I thought ye were still further east, pickin scraps out the Confederate's teeth."
Bonus:
Rithe Lasbeoux: "Fair enough, I'd forgotten how long journey's by sea could take. I honestly wish I'd brought something to tinker with since they won't let us in the engine room."
Brave Horizon nods at Rithe, then frowns at Kail. "Yeah. She's got a good point! Why can't we look at your engines, captain?"
Kail Gerrad nods to Rithe. "Ye'll have t'fergive our engineer...we use a different engine than most other ships...cheaper t'use but she's more sensitive and needs a delicate hand."
Brave Horizon clears her throat and begins speaking in her Chief voice. "The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the upcoming exploratory mission the Eorzean Alliance has entrusted the Bellworks with. They have asked us to search the Ivalician city of Goug, near the Ridorana Lighthouse, in southern Othard."
Brave Horizon: "For those unfamiliar, Goug was famed within Ivalice for its myriad clockwork inventions, and it is a potential source of lost scientific and and engineering knowledge."
]Kail Gerrad: "...and treasure?"
Victoria Castle: "Probably."
Brave Horizon: "If there is any, the previous tenants aren't using it anymore," she says with a shrug.
Hyrtwyda Eyhafrynwyn: "...knowledge is treasure," Wyda murmurs, quietly.
Gwenneth Gilrouis breaks her fascination long enough to double-take toward Kail with the expression reserved for disappointed mothers.
Kail Gerrad smiles and shrugs. "Oh c'mon...ye were all thinkin it one way or another."
All Hands Meeting/Celebration - Introducing the Dufresne
The 17th Sun of the Third Umbral Moon
Brave Horizon pauses to look back at the airship. "There are hundreds of other names that we could honor in this way, but truly, the choice was an easy one to make." She looks back at the others with a smile. "This name is inseparable from the development of modern industry in the Holy See. Not only that, but this man ensured that his efforts benefited all the people of Ishgard, from count to beggar, as much as he could. And, of course, we wouldn't be here without him."
Brave Horizon picks up a bottle of champagne from a nearby table. "It is my great honor and distinct pleasure to reveal the Bellworks Airship Dufresne, in honor of Baron Emmereaux Dufresne!" She turns around, hauls back, and smashes the bottle against the keel of the airship. Employees on the deck undo the sheet, revealing 'Dufresne' in big, bold letters on the hull.
Main floor with reception, waiting area, and quiet tea room. Upper floor with meeting area and presentation stage, work sample displays, and office. Lower floor with kitchen, break area, and relaxation area. More pictures under the cut.
Welcome to the new blog of the Bellworks Manufacturing and Design Company! This free company is a reorganization of the Dufresne Bellworks. As these things go, the FC experienced a bit of a lull but is now back in full force and ready to welcome new roleplayers to its ranks!
