@grandfather-time
I think we all know that the events of TUE wouldn't have happened in Danny's timeline without Clockwork's meddling. And that leaves the question why.
If it truly was to prevent Dan from existing, then that was very poorly executed plan because it accomplished the opposite. If it was to teach Danny somekind of lesson about cheating or not splitting himself apart, letting Danny experience losing all of his loved ones would be kind of overboard but I could see Clockwork not seeing anything wrong with it. He is the master of time. His view of the world is probably very different and he might see that as totally reasonable way to teach a little lesson to someone. But what if instead of that the reason was to make sure Dan exists? What if all of this was Clockwork playing 5-d chess to make observants think he is following their orders while getting what he wants? What if for one reason or another Clockwork wants Dan to exist even if he gets rid of Dan's timeline? Clockwork could have even been the one to slip the vision of Dan's timeline to Observants which puts the events of TUE in motion.
When Dan goes back in time disguised as Danny Clockwork says
"And there's your boy, back to his time. Safe, sound, and clearly not evil."
He sounds very smug when he says it. He 100% knows that's Dan and not Danny. You cannot convince me that he doesn't think he is being hilarious and isn't having so much fun of knowing things Observants don't.
In the end of the episode when Clockwork is handed Dan in the Thermos, this is the interaction that happens
"You realize the boy is your responsibility now."
"As is his evil self, now that he exists outside of time."
"I know. But then, I know everything."
To me that does very much sound like someone who just won. Someone who played everyone around him and got the exact end result he wanted.
If this actually was about making sure Dan exists outside of his time, then Clockwork played everyone. He made the Observants think he was just following their orders and he used Danny as a chess piece in his plan. It would also answer why it was Danny who had to deal with Dan and not Vlad. Danny is probably much easier to manipulate.
-> And that's how we get to my "Oh, I think I ship this now" realisation.
This whole idea is brilliant and then the final line executed me.
What Color Do You Associate With Time (any hue)
red
orange
yellow
green
blue
purple
brown
pink
grey
black
white
A metallic color
a moment in time
(It's not even 8 minutes and it would be even less if we cut his appearances to only when he is actually on the screen... 🤣)
Just some ClockWork(and Danny).
I didn't know if ClockWork had this ability. I just thought of it and drew it.
The Embodiment of Time.
Time is a complex concept, even for a ghost: this is because it is a dimension. How do you explain depth to a two-dimensional being? How do you explain time to those who cannot see it, but only suffer it, feel its consequences? And after all, Danny, aren't we two-dimensional beings too? They are drawing us out there: divine hands create our contours, choose our colors, they are the ones who give us the impression of depth, the impression of time. In the end, it's all about animation and storyboarding. How do you say, don't you understand, Danny? And then he looks here. Look into the vortex of time, as the Gallifreyans do when they are still children, and you will see who you really are. But be careful, my boy, your sanity may not survive...
30th submission for the @green-with-envy-phandom-event! This is a collab: the design was created by @schnuffel-danny, the lineart was created by @dashing-through-ecto, we did the color.
I don't think I'll do any other colors as complex this year... I added the details during a panic attack, to calm myself down, and the result is that I spent at least a couple of hours on the final touches of light and shadow.

there is never enough master of time
...I love huge Clockwork..............🙂
hot take ppl always write clockwork too nice. every cannon interaction starts w him like "ughhh what do you want now?" which fair he knows how things will likely play out and he'll have to babysit someone doing something stupid. the point is i think hes a manipulative asshole, even when hes trying to be nice. its the consequence of what he is
give him a hug
