"Luke should get a job!"
Training demigods is Luke's job, for Camp Half-Blood and then for the Titan Army.
["We're bringing him back," were the four words Luke uttered to the group when called in the office, crystal blue eyes rimmed with gold gazing at his spouses' faces. Coco their lips parted with their mismatched globes padding with tears, fingertips ghosting over their bottom lip. Lettie their russet eyes widened at those words, brows scrunching together, expressing disbelief.]
[The lord of the underworld wouldn't allow the dead to be messed with, doesn't like it when those who've passed the barriers return to the surface, finding offence in that. However, this was the Titan Army; they didn't care what the Devine deadbeats thought of their actions; they stopped doing so. Hence why they were now surrounding a construct that those formerly of cabin 9 set up in order for the children of Hecate to insert the chemicals they've created specifically for this, pouring it in the pool-shaped built, watching as the green glow illuminated the face of whom were there to witness it.]
"Bring him in."
[Luke would walk in with a clothed body in his arms, carrying it in bridal style with delicacy, no matter if the body held no sign of life. Halting in his steps, he'd kneel with his phalanges tugging down the cloth to reveal the face of who he carried, swallowing at the sight of Cole's face not looking back at him.]
[With a peck on his cold forehead, Castellan would carefully dip him in the chemical pool, watching as his body slowly sunk down to the bottom.]
@fallensonofthewineanddramagod
Ace had been in the Underworld for a while, not much to do really. Hades had tasked him to ‘supervise’ mortals who attempted to commit necromancy or anything ‘Thule Society’-like, as to what Thanatos had said beforehand.
Now, some would believe Hades' palace to be dark and edgy—which, obviously, it was dark and edgy—albeit it had more to that. Ace was just enjoying himself in the lounge area and doing some research on this new codex thing going on with the I.C. until he got teleported, again. Jobs, man. Absolutely tiring.
“Okay, everybody, we gotta wrap this —...” He paused as he saw the scene in front of him. Luke and the others from the Titan Army, all gathered by a green pool. Rising the dead from their rest.
“—up....” He continued after realizing what was happening.
[The green light shimmered in all their eyes. Collette looked away, with their arms around their spouse, and Coco buried their face in their chest, softly asking, "What if it won't work?". Luke would glance at Ace with a 'sorry' in his eyes, extending his hand to take Alabaster's, Alabaster taking Ethan's, and so on. Albeit reluctant, both Adolphus and Amaya joined, holding each other's hands and those beside them. Taking a deep breath, he would raise his head with eyes shut.]
«Den zitáme tin ádeia tou Árchonta tou Káto Kósmou, den mas endiaféroun oi synépeies pou boreí na échei aftí i anavíosi. Férte píso tin psychí aftoú pou den áxize na pethánei tóso norís, férte píso ti zoí pou tou stérisan.»
«Epistrépste ton se mas, epistrépste mas ton Chouma Akimitsu...»
«Epistrépste ton se mas.»
[They would repeat those words together, Luke and Ethan especially squeezing the ones they were holding their hands tighter, grip shaking as they put much passion in those words. The child of the war deity and the child of the agriculture deity did too, Collette their chest heaving slightly as Cocona made attempts of not opening their eyes.]
Ace just...stood there. His body felt like it was locked up and there was nobody who was pulling the strings. He couldn't process anything, every string of what could be a thought just vanished.
[Bubbles would float from the chemical and pop afterwards, the chant being repeated as that was a sign that the ritual was taking its effect. Somewhere above, somewhere, a soul paused mid-adjusting the flowers, standing still before being yanked by a metaphorical hand. His curls swayed around during this, eyes wide in confusion and shock, even more so when dunked in something.]
[It prickled against his skin and caused his thoughts to go from constructed blocks to white specks that parted when dunked in the liquid further, leaving behind something upon being pulled out before getting dunked again- it burning against his skin again but harsher, erupting a scream from him under the water he was in.]
[That alone made Luke snap an eye open, as though he had heard the scream. As though sensing it too, everyone else would open their eyes as well.] "He's coming," [he'll whisper to them, glancing at everyone in the circle. Collette's breath hitched softly, glancing down at the chemical pool.]
Ace winced at the screaming. It sounded so familiar, yet so distant.
Pain. He's in pain. You have to pull him out. The words sat at the tip of his tongue, yet nothing but a choked noise came out.
The green light of the chemical pool illuminated his wide hazelnut eyes, swirling with too many emotions that he couldn't explain.
[The bubbling continued for a moment with bated breath, hands squeezing each other, with Coco muttering the chant in case it'll help further. The gasp for air echoed a chain of gasps in itself, cabin five's counselor putting an arm in front of cabin four's head counselor, hands shaking at the familiar yet unfamiliar sight of-]
"Cole!" [he called out as he extended his hand towards him, the figure clasping his wrist and getting pulled out, towel dropped on him and Luke adjusting it around him, fingers shaking. Alabaster had to ensure Ethan took no further steps, watching as Cole coughed repeatedly, palms on the concrete floor.]
[They recognized him, in a way they did. But his appearance made it difficult; his new one. It wasn't much of a change; his hair wasn't jet black like it used to be, not in his dreads or in a bun... It was snow white, curly and soaked (of course it was, he was in something that had liquid). Yet, the other thing that changed was his eyes, the ones that were brown with violet swirling in them...]
[They weren't warm, they weren't brown, not even purple... No, they were a red shade, cold, wide from being rudely awakened like this.]
Ace's breath caught in his throat. Not this again, no.
“Guys,” he said that in a whisper, his eyes blown wide. “You might want to...uhm.”
Might want to? Help them you frozen idiot! Yet Ace stayed stuck to his place where he was standing, a thousand thoughts going through his mind at once.
[Coco shushed him gently with a hand held up, shaking their head rapidly.]
[He coughed with his body shaking, sitting on his legs while shaking. His pupils were slits, unfocused as his skin burned from where he got pulled out of. His breathing was harsh, swallowing with a shudder when tasting what the children of Hecate created. There were many questions running through his head, feeling a palm against his cheek to set him back into reality.]
[It made him flinch at first, gazing up at whose hand it was, meeting crystal blue globes. They looked worried, relieved- they looked like they knew him, yet he didn't know them. Fuck-]
[Where the fuck was he? That's the question he had especially, sitting up to gaze around the place. Cole his white curls stuck to his skin, lips parting before closing repeatedly.] "Where...?"
"What- what just happened...?"
Ace winced when he saw Cole. Flashes of his own revival appeared in his mind and a pang of sympathy came through him.
“Shouldn't we help him?..” He muttered out with a shaky voice.
[His head turned around to look at Ace with furrowed brows, looking him up and down, scrutinizing him.] "... Yeah, actually." [He turned his head to look up at Luke again, almost glaring at him.]
[Luke would look back down at him with the worry still written all over him, lips parted slightly before closing them again.] "We are helping him; we're just... processing this."
Ace stepped forward nervously, he could do this again. He'll do it better than before, because he was good at this. Good at handling the supernatural.
“Hey...Calm down now,” he said slowly, slightly raising his hands up to show that he wasn't a threat. (Unless you wanted him to be.)
“Do you..remember anything? Anything at all?” He asked gently.
[Cole allowed himself to be helped up, lowering the towel to his waist, letting Luke help him with that and tie a knot in it. At his question, he looked around with a confused look, green drops rolling down his scarred skin.] "I don't recognize this place, no..."
[Lettie looked down at Coco, noting how they looked almost in disbelief at the sight of their previously deceased husband. They held an expression of disbelief on their face, lips parted in slight... awe?]
"No... I don't remember." [And that was the point.]
Ace sighed. Explaining everything will be hard...but then again, he could always mess with just a teensy weensy bit of magic, just a bit.
“That's awesome,” he said with a wry smile before noticing the lack of clothes. He's ripped. BAD DOG— “Let's get you some clothes, yeah?”
[OOC: I didn't even have to mention he had muscles lmao- or did I already tell you he did?-]
[Even after getting revived, his muscles still stuck to him, feeling some soreness in them as he rolled his shoulders back, huffing softly when hearing a satisfying 'crack.' Said action made Luke snort under his breath with his lip between his teeth, Lettie making an 'ooh' face with squinted eyes and a slow nod, and Coco's finger tips hovering over their glossed lips with their cheeks flushing.]
"That'd be nice, yeah... I don't think anyone needs to see me like this for too long," [he'll mutter with a grunt as his palm rests on his own shoulder, massaging it to ease up whatever annoying cramp there was in. Maybe because he fell from something high before all of this... he just can't remember.]
[ooc: i guessed lmao i like to think everyone has muscles (it's a habit....)]
“Yeah, that'd be nice so everyone in the room could stop ogling you.” He joked. You're ogling him too, dumbass. Shut up.
Ace turned around and pressed his palm against the wall, bringing his free hand to his mouth then whistling.
The concrete shook before stilling once more and a man materialized beside Ace, leaning against the wall while holding a pair of clothes.
“Can't believe I'm agreeing to this.” The six foot tall dude grumbled before handing the clothes to Ace.
“You have no choice, Chaos.” Ace smiled devilishly before snapping his fingers then turning to Cole.
The man, referred to as Chaos, pushed off the wall and walked over to Cole, handing him the clothes with a deadpan face like he was silently judging him.
[Chouma gave the figure in front of him a once-over with a click of his tongue, raising a brow at him with half-lidded eyes, judging him in return as he took the clothes from him. Luke as well gave him a once-over with the same expression, fingers hovering over the small of his husband's back.] "Thanks... whatever you are, I guess," [he'll mutter with a reluctant nod.]
['What the fuck is that?' he mouthed to Luke with wide eyes, glancing at him every once in a while.] "He's... a special type of creature, don't mind him." [Alabaster and Ethan looked at him as well, with equal looks of awe and 'what the fuck?'.]
[Sensing that this would shift to a chain of staring, Collette quickly walked over to guide Cole away from the others, gesturing for Coco to walk along with them both.] "You'll catch a cold the longer you stay here, and you just got back..." [they'll chuckle softly with a pat between his shoulder blades, earning a confused look from said boy.]
Chaos raised a brow, turning towards Ace with a ‘The fuck?’ look. Which, in return, Ace gave a shrug as he fiddled with the locket of his golden necklace.
Ace watched as Cole got guided away to change into some decent clothes. The urge to follow was there but Ace thought it would be too awkward, considering the guy didn't even remember him.
He moved his gaze towards the others, then his hazel eyes landed on Luke. A spike of anger went through him as he remembered the reason why he was here in the first place. He pressed his lips into a thin line as his eyes narrowed into a sharp glare directed towards Luke, though he remained silent.
[The point of his revival was indeed that he'd lose his memory; the point was to ensure that the remaining loyalty Cole had harbored for D**nysus died down to the extent of it harboring into hatred. And Castellan knew that his memory would be a price for that, exchanging his fond ones to cut them up in bits. He knew, Lettie knew, Coco knew- all four knew that he couldn't keep them in mind after this.]
[They had his wedding ring stored up safely, the notepad ready and written with memories that were required for Cole to remember. N*mesis was ready too, ready to take the eye of another child of hers, to make balance once more among her children. What's left to do was to give him time to settle down again, to adjust to his new environment before proceeding with it further...]
[However, the Titan Army's right-hand man glanced at the eyes that bore a hole in him, his own lips pressing in a thin line as well.] "I know what you're going to say," [Luke murmured with what one can assume to be resignation, glancing away from Ace afterwards.] "Go ahead, say what you need to."
Ace huffed, stepping forward with his arms crossed as Chaos snorted and mouthed a snarky ‘good luck’ before distorting then vanishing.
“I'm not gonna scold you,” he grumbled. “It's useless at this point, really. But you know what I'm gonna say?” He pointed a finger at his chest, pushing a little harshly but not enough to harm.
“You're one real dumbass. I don't know what you were thinking, but I really hope you have a good explanation for this.” He said with a low tone, his hazel eyes glaring holes into Luke before retracting his hand and crossing it over his chest once more.
[The push from his finger made his blue eyes glance down at it before Ace took it back, dusting off his chest with a raised eyebrow.]
"I think bringing back my husband is explanation enough for why I did it, Ace. We needed him back at some point; he shouldn't have died at any point. Not because of some fucked-up prophecy or something." [His scabbed phalanges went through his curls, bleached blond streaks brushing against his tan skin, rolling his eyes in frustration.] "Aki hated being D**nysus's son to begin with; all we did was do him a favor."
[Luke held a hand up in case the other wanted to speak up, silencing him beforehand. The whole thing was stressful enough; he didn't need someone going after his ass for committing necromancy, especially not from him.] "What's done is done; he's back, and he's going to have a different mindset and Devine deadbeat. I don't care if this goes against what yours stands for; that was the entire point. We go against them all."
Ace scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. “Favor? Luke, I get that you all wanted him back, I did too. But tampering with something this big? It's not something that you just up and decide. I don't really care what the gods think, I really don't—but if anyone, literally anyone at all finds out about this it's not gonna be pretty. I know what happens, and I don't want it to happen again. I want you to think about this clearly.”
He paused, his expression falling at his own words as if it physically hurt him. “Are you? Thinking about this clearly.” He asked with a softer voice, his brows furrowed. Memories of his revival flashed through his mind once more, making him internally wince.
"We thought this through; we didn't just decide this out of the blue; we had it all thought out and were delaying it constantly because we were genuinely terrified that it could go wrong. Even if they figure it out, what are they going to do? Fucking take his life again just like that? They didn't kill Hippolytus again when *sclepius revived him, they only killed *sclepius instead. We'll be fine; we've got Lord Kronos on the ship, and that's enough to make most of them scared." [It all came out with frustration seeping into his tone, turning around to face him fully, speaking with his hands before clenching them.]
"We've thought this through just fine; it wasn't just me- it was everybody, everybody agreed, everybody knew- we all. Thought. This. Through."
“Did you?” He tilted his head to the side, his gaze moving to the floor before going back to Luke's face. “Luke, it doesn't matter if you all agreed on it. Not when they'll fucking smite half of you off this goddamn ship. Have you really considered all of the possibilities? Considered that Kronos couldn't fucking care less if you all get wiped? They probably won't try to touch Cole but how can you assure the rest of the crew's safety?” Ace bit his lip, all the anger earlier slightly dissipating as panic slowly seeped into his thoughts.
"Yes, I did, for fuck's sake, Ace!" [Luke eventually yelled, it echoing and bouncing off the concrete walls, other members of the army glancing between the two with unease as they shuffled back. The yell made his eyes gain a gold shine over them, his canines showing when his body took a defensive stance.] "I'm not stupid, but I'm not scared either, not anymore! They can try for all I care; they for sure won't lay a hand on us if it means causing war with each other for killing their kids!"
"Maybe Kronos won't give a shit about us dying, but he sure as hell would care about the thought of losing the body he needs. Which is me, he needs me to physically do his stuff..." [He whispered that last part with shaky breathing, his body shaking from how nervous and how painfully stressful this was. He knows what he's doing; he knows- he really does.]
[He knows what he's risking.]
Ace flinched, retracting a bit at Luke yelling. But then he stood up straighter, his eyes narrowing back into a glare.
“Don't you dare raise your voice at me, boy.” He growled back, his hands grabbing Luke's collar, his grip surprisingly harsh for someone his size, and pulling him closer. “You think Kronos cares? There are multiple demigods out there that can be easily manipulated into doing Kronos's bidding. And I can feel the fucking fear on you, so don't try to play all big dog on me, Luke.” He whispered lowly with a glare, his grip still tight.
"You don't let me fucking go, I swear I'll throw you in the damn pool myself, then we'll see who's the big dog here once you lose your memories and I'll remind you who actually provides here among the ship." [His fingers clasped around Ace's wrist and gave it a tight squeeze, a bit too tight for comfort as his eye twitched with his free hand clenching.]
[Among the crowd, one glowing figure gently wiggled her way through them, muttering an 'Excuse me', approaching both men and standing between them, pushing them away from one another. It snapped him out of whatever state he was in, swallowing before exhaling shakily, running a hand over his face with his eye bags visible.]
"Wrap it up, both of you," [Archer murmured.]
["We're bringing him back," were the four words Luke uttered to the group when called in the office, crystal blue eyes rimmed with gold gazing at his spouses' faces. Coco their lips parted with their mismatched globes padding with tears, fingertips ghosting over their bottom lip.

@fallensonofthewineanddramagod

The whole thing was stressful enough; he didn't need someone going after his ass for committing necromancy, especially not from him.] "What's done is done; he's back, and he's going to have a different mindset and Devine deadbeat.
@fallensonofthewineanddramagod

I like to think that German!Luke knows a lot of German lullabies- both traditional and newer ones. He taught them to himself when he first started to visit CHB at age twelve, alone and unsure as he was. They served as a way to ground himself, to be reminded that the gods were not all that existed in his life. That he had a home and sanctuary to return to.
Later on in life he outgrew the habit of singing to himself, but Luke never forgot any of the lullabies he had learnt. Occasionally he'll bust one or two out still- not for himself, but for his fellow campers. After a particularly horrid training day, or when the youngest and newest one has trouble sleeping.
Sometimes, whenever Percy got him dragged into some grand prophecy again and Luke sees him struggle especially, he'll sing one for him too. Quiet and tender. He knows the younger is neither able to understand the words nor is he nostalgic for them. But they help, always.
Even if it's just because of the knowledge that someone cares enough about you to sing you to sleep.
Does Percy remember them and think of Luke and cry?
After Luke's death? You best believe it.
The guy already haunts Percy in canon, and that's in a world where the two were bitter enemies for years. In my German!Luke AU he was a trusted confidant and companion for him. Not to mention the fact that Percy's survivor's guilt is much worse.
At the end of the day the only reason Luke was in the US and involved in the war were Annabeth and Percy asking for his help during BotL. Had that not happened then Luke would have stayed in Germany and would have survived. Percy knows that, and it haunts him. A situation that is not helped at all by the fact that he was unable to fulfil Luke's last wish of having his remains be brought back home.
As such, any sort of reminder of Luke will get you some emotional reaction out of him. Having the lullabies he used to sing to him in those quiet, scarred moments brought up....well, you can imagine how that would end.
Ohhhh my godddd....
"Omg Hades cares soooo much for Nico, he's such a good Dad-"
So we're all ignoring how he wanted to lowkey sacrifise him in the OG five books now? Like. You guys do remember that right? Hades literally wanted to raise Nico to be the Hero of the Great Prophecy for his own gain. And mind you it was well known by Hades that said Hero would die by way of a "cursed blade". Hades was just straight up down to sacrifise the life of his own son.
I KEEP SAYING THIS OH MY GOD
Friendly reminder that Hades specifically sent monsters after Thalia with the expressed purpose of killing her when she was a kid. Not because of the Great Prophecy or because she wronged him, but because he wanted to take revenge on Zeus. Just in case people wanna blame anyone BESIDES the literal god who wanted to see an innocent kid dead due to his own grudges.
We don't FUCK WITH that thing
Back up h*des
People blame Luke for Thalia's death or for slowing them down, meanwhile they completely ignore the fact that he was a fourteen year old CHILD, Grover literally showed them the wrong way that one time and Hades also was sending the most horrible monsters after them specifically to kill Thalia.
I like to think that German!Luke knows a lot of German lullabies- both traditional and newer ones. Friendly reminder that it wasn't Percy who defeated Kronos and saved Olympus, it was Luke.
MY MAN EVERYBODY
No but hear me out. Platonic Hanahaki disease, where Luke contracts it because of Hermes and his belief that his father doesn't love him.
And part of the reason that he hated the guy so much being that he removed his Hanahaki by way of surgery. And with it his love for him.
AAAAAUGHHH💔💔💔
So I've semi-recently returned to playing hsr, and while I do absolutely love the story, this picture of Phainon (a character from that game) is giving me major Luke vibes. So I edited it to be him lmao.
OH HELLO SAILOR
No but Luke x Lucifer parallels anyone?
The story of the fallen angel. Of the father of lies and temptation. God's most beloved angel. His favourite son. So pretty and bright and golden. Who saw heaven and divinity and gods plan and rebelled. Who wanted more. Who wanted something different. Who commeted the grave crime, the most horrid sin, of merely questioning his creator. Who fought for his beliefs and was thrown from paradise for it. His own brother pushed him away. His own family. And they say he betrayed them but didn't they also raise their swords against him? He was angry and hurt and horrid and he made himself imperfect and he was hated for it. They never listened to him and they'll erase all his name used to mean. Replace his very image with the scapegoat they will make him be. And they say they love him and that it was his own fault but if god is truly all knowing shouldn't he have known too? He was a tool and a weapon and a function before he was a son and now he's no son at all. He's condemned and people applaud those who had him slain and no one will ever listen to him. Because they call him evil and they say he's a liar and if he's the devil in their eyes then he's the devil in those of other's too.
Chat look
She cooked with this
I love it
"Oh my god Silena didn't acctually wanna betray camp! She's just a poor UwU baby who was MANIPULATED and GROOMED by the big bad Luke-"
Even ignoring how the whole grooming thing doesn't even work timeline-wise, ya do realise how downright sexist that idea is??? Like. You guys pretty much strip Silena not only of her agency, but of her whole personality. Turning her into some helpless, defenceless damsel in distress who's targeted by this big bad strong man. As though she herself can't make her own decisions and have her own opinion.
I'm not saying Luke's some sorta angel or something, but acting as though he's the literal devil wishpering temptations into Silena's ears which she simpyl cannot withstand is...lowkey kinda weird tbh. Are you saying that only men get to be complex characters with nuanced motivations and thoughts? Or are you saying that women or Silena specifically are simply so weak-willed that they can only ever be used as pawns? 'Cause both options are lowkey equally bad if you ask me.
The grooming part especially? So?? Fucking weird??
Maybe TMI but I was fucking groomed and I can tell Luke was doing none of the sort as to what I experienced??
Manipulation maybe. Blackmail yeah.
But GROOMING?
No.
At the end of the day Luke isn't a bad person, but he's a bad villain. Mainly because his characterisation is all over the place, seems to have no red line and only gets murkier by Rick's refusal to reread his own books.
Luke's so hated in part because the fandom wants a scapegoat, but also because due to Rick not properly planning him out his whole stick is messed up. The Luke of TLT and SOM and the Luke of TCC until TLO are two completely different people in terms of presentation of the character. And we got far too little time with him or with the bad sides of CHB to properly understand the points he was trying to make.
Then that weird romance thing with Annabeth happened, which not only ruined their theme, which up until now had always been family, but also brought down the proverbial blade on his neck. Forever turning him into some pedo creep the fandom sees him as even if that isn't the case.
