it’s a fair point. delanie won’t ever be perfect. she messes up a lot of the time, does the wrong thing, says the wrong thing and ends up putting her foot in it. she has more often than not ended up with her foot in her mouth. she smiles back at him, nose wrinkling happily. “i like hearing it too. we’ve become that sappy couple and i love it.” 

he doesn’t expect her never to mess up, not even to never to hurt his feelings in the heat of the moment, because that’s just what people do, but he knows that she’d never mean it, that she’d never do anything with the intention of truly hurting him. he grins, nuzzling his nose against hers. “i do too. although i’d like any kind of couple you and i end up being.”

he nods in response to her reply, grateful, at the very least, that at least one of them knows where they’re going. he likes to take charge, be a gentleman, but, well, he truly doesn’t know much about this place. another nod. “lead the way, then.”

she knows where she’s going for the most part.  only because she likes getting take out mostly because of the fact that she can’t cook to save her life and take out coffee is so much better than home made.  she loves all that kind of stuff.  plus the bars.  “sir, yes sir.  c’mon,  follow me.”

needless to say, sebastian doesn’t exactly have the reason to go out like delanie does. at least not anymore, since he’s on probation as is, and he’d certainly get killed if he were found feeding on humans again. a cup of tea or the odd invitation out is about all he cares to delve into the social aspect of eating. he nods, gesturing for her to lead on.

he smiles as he watches her, nodding and giving her an exaggerated once-over. “you absolutely do.” in a regular lifespan, he can understand how she feels older. hell, even for him, things just hit a bit differently after 30. “i hear you there.” he shrugs, smile remaining. “i haven’t really met any werewolves, to be honest. i’m going off’a this, and you seem alright.”

grin grows a little brighter at his agreement because she is right, she definitely looks pretty good for her age, though in reality she isn’t all that old. not as old as other people. but still, she looks damn fine. “we’re not exactly a sparse kind but we’re really good at hiding, keeping ourselves undercover, i think.” she’s managed to go a long time without being sniffed out, though maybe she’s just better trained. “i am pretty alright, actually. unless you get on my bad side, then i’m not.”

no, she’s really not that old at all, and she’s still got most of life ahead of her. hell, depending on the lifespan being a werewolf gives her, she might have hardly even started. “apparently so. either that or i’m just really out of the loop.” which is also very possible. “i think we could all use a bad side. boundaries, you know?”

she isn’t ready to change their dynamic, she doesn’t think. they’ve been this way for sixteen years and it takes a long time to get used to something like change. especially because they’ve been together for so long just the two of them. she sighs quietly, nodding with a hum. “yeah, i promise i will. i’ll tell you as soon as i think things are going to change.”

even if things change, their dynamic itself isn’t going to change, she knows that. they’re still going to be as close as they’ve always been, even if someone else comes into the picture. it’s always going to be the two of them, even if it’s not just the two of them. “okay, good.”

she will always do her best to be open with her daughter, she will do her best to be as open and as honest as she can because it’s the best way to be. she doesn’t want to dishonest and lie because that wouldn’t foster a good relationship between the two of them. “i try my best.” she smiles brightly, nudging ella with a light laugh. “and i’m such a great mom that i’m suggesting ice cream for dessert tonight.” 

it’s comforting, and it makes her happy, knowing that delanie trusts her and intends to always be open with her, the same way ella always intends to be open with delanie. “and your best is the best,” she replies, reaching up to press a kiss to her cheek. she grins, nudging delanie back. “and that makes you an even better mom.”
