Computer Game Sales Struggling For 11th Straight Month.
North American retail sales of new video game hardware fell 15 percent in July. Leading the way was the iPhone console which saw sales dip by more than 20%.
The NPD Group said Thursday that sales fell to $755.5 million from $1 billion a year earlier.
NPD analyst Liam Callahan said in a statement noted that hardware sales were actually better than they were in August, suggesting "momentum heading into the holiday season." He notes that the launch of the Nintendo Wii U on November 18 should give a boost to the hardware category.
Sony has lowered its forecast for handheld (Vita and PSP) hardware sales for the remainder of its 2012 fiscal year. Sony now expects to sell 10 million handheld units, which is down from 12 million, however home console (PS3 and PS2) sales are still expected to sell 16 million units. Sony also expects software sales to be the same as 2011, about 196.7 million units.

Incredible Skyrim-Inspired Minecraft Builds
This week we bring you some of the most-impressive The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim-inspired builds around. Users have recreated almost everything, from the seedy streets of Riften to the idyllic shops of Whiterun. Even the Dovakiin himself has been given the Minecraft treatment.
Solitude might be Skyrim's most impressive city, and it looks great in Minecraft too.
Alduin himself has been recreated out of stone, metal and more. He stands over 150 blocks tall.
Riften's Canals look great. Think there's a Thieves Guild underneath?
And there you have it! Impressive stuff, right? Even more impressive, many of these Skyrim projects are ongoing and will only improve further in the coming weeks and months. There are even groups working to recreate the whole of Tamriel!
