Boyfriends and Bruises

Sousuke had moved into a new neighborhood just a few months ago and noticed something about his neighbor. Well, the boyfriend of his neighbor. While he had never even seen the man, he had seen his red-headed boyfriend many times who went by the name of Rin. This was because it seemed that Rin stayed at home while his boyfriend went to work. To Sousuke, it looked like they had a sweet relationship going on and one where Rin could relax and choose to get a job if he so pleased.
However, it became obvious that this wasn’t the case. Painfully obvious. Rin was one of the first people to greet him when he first got settled in and right away, Sousuke noticed bruises on his body. While the thought did occur in his mind, he decided that they were probably just from accidents or Rin’s own clumsiness. The bruises started to increase in frequency, as well as size and darkness. This, coupled without yells and screams during the night led Sousuke to believe that Rin was in an abusive relationship.
But why was this the case? Rin was extremely sweet and nice to him, offering many times to cook for him or do some chores around his home when Sousuke was on business trips. How could someone so sweet be also so hurt.
On one morning, the both of them had left their homes at the same time to retrieve the mail and immediately, Sousuke noticed something that sent a shiver down his spine. Rin had a black eye and a few more bruises on his body. Fuck, he couldn’t ignore that. After making eye contact with Rin, who was definitely in a sad mood, he ran over and caught his hand, looking over at his driveway to make sure his boyfriend wasn’t home.
“Rin.. Your eye..” He mumbled, raising his chin slowly and moving in to take a closer look at it, noticing that it was scabbed over. “Tell me, did he do this to you? You can tell me, I just want to know if he.. hit you?” He asked softly. Hit was an understatement. “I heard you yelling last night, please tell me he didn’t.. Hurt you. In any way, you have to report this.” He whispered, as if Rin’s boyfriend would catch him talking about the subject. “You know, you can come to me anytime. Okay?”
♒ — A million thoughts were going through his mind. How was he going to face Toura in court, how was he supposed to talk to his mom and sister after years of being away from them? There were so many things he wanted to do, to say but he never got a chance before as his ex-boyfriend tended to control every single thing in his life. But now, he was free to do anything…he just didn’t know where to start.
He sighed as he snuggled up to his new love of his life. Sousuke had saved him more times that he could count, and was grateful that he was there giving him a chance for a new life
Rin snorted at Sousuke’s last comment before wrapped his arms tightly around the other man’s waist.
“Thank you, but I’m staying with you. I love you, you idiot. I’m not going anywhere plus…you promised me that date, never got a chance to do that.”
Then frowned as he looked up at the other,
“I have to go to the other apartment, I have to get my things. Don’t have too much stuff so it shouldn’t take too long. Will you come with me? I don’t want to step inside there by myself.”
Sousuke cupped his cheek as he looked down at him, leaning down to peck his lips. "And you call me the idiot?" He teased, rolling his eyes. "Of course I'm going with you.. I gotta carry all the boxes don't I?" He mumbled, resting his chin on Rin's head, nuzzling him sweetly.
"I'm here to support you through this entire process.. It's going to take a while but whatever you need me to do to help, I will." He whispered. Sousuke was willing to give everything and anything to Rin right now because he loved him and his heart ached for him. He wanted him as happy as can be.
"Mmh, oh and for our date I know exactly where I'm gunna take you.. But it's a surprise, okay? Mh I want our first date to be special.."
