It's been a few days so I'm just gonna say while I didn't suspect AI for The Rerun-

(firstly, I wasn't there when it was being updated like every day and secondly, idk, i had a mental block and didn't really assoc. AI with fanfiction. I have assoc. it with like people using it to write academic essays, visual art, and people attempting to roleplay with it, but I had yet to really hear about AI fanfics) I had found that when I was reading it there was something very ...cold/robotic about the writing and it's honestly what kept me from being totally obsessed with it. It was just ...kind of boring to read at times in my opinion and there would be repetition with the words (ie: people pointing out some AI tells being "fluorescents" and "humming.") The slow burn, the concept, and the plot beats were interesting and kept me invested ofc, not pretending I didn't enjoy the story at all! But there was something detached in the writing that I hadn't felt before and now I know what it was. Even the bits that touched upon prejudice/racism certain characters had towards Alastor in the story -as few and far between as they were- felt very sanitized and vague. Not to suggest that murdermedia stories have to always include accurate portrayals of what a Creole entertainer would have faced at the time, esp since fiction is about escapism, but I'd rather it be addressed appropriately than glossed over (no I'm not saying it has to be completely in your face and certainly not gratuitous, but I'd rather that if someone is gonna address it, it not be completely vague and sanitized. It's no wonder it was so vague. It may have not been written by a human.

(also I know I've read people mourn not being able to read these characterizations again but a lot of murdermedia fic writers are doing a fantastic job with the characterization and WITHOUT AI, go look for them❤️)

Just rambling but all of this to conclude that we should use this time to send love to artists and writers putting in their time and efforts and not contributing to feeding into the creation of data centers and deterioration of our communities and our earth.

I love romantic radiostatic but I think a fundamental part of that dynamic (present but especially past) is that, at their core, they’re pretty great friends. They have a lot of common interests and they go about things in a very similar fashion. There’s also things they completely disagree on, but I think that makes them think outside the box, they show each other new things, help each other better themselves. I love the Sparks print because it shows these two demons who could easily be each other’s opposites enjoying the same music! Radio and Video, tradition and innovation, both entertainers with a penchant for the dramatic and the violent. They’re a love/hate story for the ages for sure, but it wouldn’t work nearly as well if they weren’t also just. Two dudes who have fun with each other
