trucker dean who’s never in one spot for long, a lot of his coworkers and acquaintances have a home base where their families are and they go back in between jobs but he never saw the appeal of that. the few times he thought about doing that, settling down in a way, his partners always expected him to quit his job and get a new one where he doesn’t have to travel for so long. that’s always been a non negotiable for him so it ended things quickly
cut to dean meeting benny, the cook in a little diner in louisiana. he’d always heard of this place but it was always so far off his route he could never justify stopping but finally, he’s hungry and grouchy and it’s been storming this whole trip and all his friends have said that benny cooks up the best southern comfort food you can find so he thinks what the hell. he’s making great time, he can afford to take a tiny detour.
but no one had warned him to be prepared to see the most gorgeous bear he’d ever seen in his life and suddenly every time dean catches a job that leads him anywhere near he’s stopping in to flirt with the hot diner cook, maybe they start up a fwb for a couple years before deans like. holy shit. would i quit my job for him?????
sends him on a whole mid life crisis. ghosts benny for a few weeks before benny is like hey dickhead just communicate with me before i have to track your ass down. so dean does and he’s like. fully honest. rare for him. and benny just fucking laughs and is like why on earth would it be a one or the other? you can keep me and your job idgaf dude?
