“It’s not silly,” Ben quickly added. He liked people that had more to talk about than silly drama or their love lives, despite where they were. “I... uh... my friends and I own this small... okay it’s pretty big now film studio. We make movies and we’ve been pretty damn lucky,” he explained with a nod of his head. He turned to look at her fully, closing one eye as he did so. “You’re not an actress are you?” he asked with a grin.

Zacharie had to admit that the mansion was nice, and he was much more comfortable within its walls than the idea of living somewhere else. He had already bumped into the person that he was apparently matched up with, not that he was all that interested in finding a soulmate. That wasn’t exactly why he was here, still the other man had seemed nice enough. He was honestly looking forward to spending a little more time with him later, for now Zacharie was looking for the bar.

He wanted a drink, sliding into one of the empty stools he glanced over at the man sitting next to him listening to him order. “Whiskey neat,” he ordered with a grin at the bartender, glancing at the other man again. Small talk wasn’t something that Zacharie particularly enjoyed hut that didn’t mean he couldn’t do it. “Can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of coke, why would you want to dilute whiskey in the first place?”

“Probably because I drank a fourth of a bottle when I was twelve and puked for four hours so now I’m a wimp and have to dilute it,” Ben answered sharply but then turned to look at the guy who sat next to him and offered him a friendly smile to show he wasn’t pissed or anything.

He held out his hand for the other shake. “Ben Bishop, the guy who shouldn’t be here,” he introduced himself. He mostly joking but he did have his doubts about his being in a place like this. He always pictured the wealthy guys who went to matchmakers as really old. The guy sitting next to him wasn’t old so that made him feel a little better.

Ben thought it would be rude if he admitted that he was more interested in his work than most women he met. Truth was, he found it hard to be himself with women recently so it was easier to stay lost in his work. “Chances are if they’re my soulmate,” he started with a small smile, “they’re gonna have to put up with a lot more than just me not noticing them right away, but that’s part of it right? You take the good and you accept the bad.”

Ben looked up from his phone and turned to look at the woman who’d spoken to him. He quickly shifted his body causing him to slip a little. He caught himself and nodded in a way that he thought made him seem European. “Nope, it’s all yours sweetheart,” he greeted with a grin that he realized made him seem desperate so he brought it down to a smirk.

After freshening up, slipping on a nice dress and making herself up she decided to head over towards the bar. Presuming, correctly, that people would be congregating there. She noticed a man checking his e-mails, already feeling as though she could relate to him. Standing beside him, she orders herself a glass of chardonnay before looking towards him. “I just got done doing the exact thing. Work never leaves,” Reagan notes.

Ben looked up from his phone at the sweet voice who spoken to him. He gulped as he saw a gorgeous blonde sitting next to him. The bartender dropped off his drink and Ben quickly took a sip. Liquid courage. “I guess,” he answered with a shrug trying to be cool, “but I don’t think of my work like it’s work. It’s too much for that bullshit you know?”

Ben still wasn’t sure what to make of this place. He’d arrived, unpacked, checked his email, made a few phone calls and reached the point where he figured he needed to get out of his room. The mansion was fucking beautiful, but it made Ben feel like he was gonna break something. He made his way down to the bar thinking he needed a drink if he was gonna survive this place. There were a few people in the bar, but not enough to make him feel more comfortable. He took a seat the bar stool and ordered a Jack and Coke. He pulled out his phone and began answering some of those emails.
