Imagine: It's Duel Academy, but in the modern day. Freshman year has just begun. There's a social media like Yik Yak where you can choose to be anonymous, and only people in your immediate area can see what you post. Almost everyone is on it at DA. Jaden and Chazz start anonymously talking with eachother, and form a close bond / fall for eachother over a few weeks without knowing who the other person is. Chazz opens up to this other anonymous stranger about the pressure his family puts on him, and vents about how he feels inferior after being defeated in a duel for the first time. (Perhaps he doesn't mention it was by Jaden. That could give away his identity, he reasons.) Jaden talks him through it, and tells him that his skills as a duelist will grow the most by facing tough challenges, even if it's at times painful and defeating along the way. He tells him that he, and his found family of friends, will be there for him unconditionally. Even when his actual family is threatening to turn a cold shoulder to him.

What would happen if they decided to finally meet eachother? What happens when they find out that this person they'd been talking to is actually their rival? Chazz blames Jaden for his misfortune in their first school year.

What if one finds out before the other?

i have so many thoughts about the little personality and dialogue changes 4kids did.... but i will always love how mean they could get with characters like Kaiba and Manjoume (and in Pokemon too but this is a Yugioh post so)

On one hand it changes the story so much, but on the other hand you could almost consider the dub an interesting AU, just like the manga. I think the sub is essential to watch for anyone interested in the series :>
