the story of two people named Tukaram
For those who don't know- the first man is Tukaram Omble. He was an Indian police officer and a former member of the Indian army who served as an assistant sub-inspector of the Mumbai Police. He was the braveheart who sustained between 23 to 40 bullets at point-blank range from an AK-47 fired by terrorist Ajmal Kasab during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008. His sacrifice prevented Kasab from killing other police officers and enabled the team to capture the attacker alive, providing the critical breakthrough evidence for the entire investigation. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra and today his bronze bust memorial stands precisely at the spot along Marine Drive where he heroically captured Ajmal Kasab.
The second person is quite popular. He is Tukaram Mundhe- an honest IAS officer who is cleaning up Maharashtra's kitchens. As the Commissioner of the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA), he has conducted over 3,100 inspections and hundreds of raids targeting food adulteration, fake medicines, and banned gutkha networks. He has seized unsafe food and counterfeit stock worth nearly ₹50–55 crore and has suspended the licenses of dozens of eateries including legendary Mumbai establishments like Shalimar and K. Rustom for hygiene violations. Not only this, he even held a surprise raid on the canteen of the Bombay High Court and found out multiple canteens were operating without a mandatory FSSAI food licence. He has suspended the license of 4 dominos food outlets and issued a warning to the dark storages operated by Zepto and Blinkit. What they say is true - expect the unexpected when this guy is around
