…mostly I just think the character Sheldon is a little prick whom I’d love to drop kick off the side of a bridge.

That too, Miss. People should not be given a “free pass” to treat others terribly simply because they’re intelligent or otherwise talented in some regard. Kindness is worth a great deal.

If you want to emphasize what the association stands for, then I thought that Cordelia had a really good idea. Or maybe like…photographs depicting some of the progress that we’ve made, in terms of Switch and submissive rights, over the years. If you want something more artsy, and perhaps with a wider appeal, then Miss Ariel’s idea is definitely something to consider. Whatever you choose, it has to be something that’s going to appeal to a large population. Which is why I’d steer clear of blatant nudity. While it’d likely sell well with frat boys, I don’t think that the ARSS would see much of a rise in their funds if you went that route.

I’m really considering Miss Ariel’s idea, I like the artsy approach, but I want to consider more ideas and who knows? Maybe combine a few of them. Of course, I would never ask anyone to be in a nude calendar because of the audience. While those attract a lot of frat boys –and even older people, because there are always pervs everywhere– I would never do that, and if I choose something that involves nudity somehow, I’d make sure it’s tasteful, not for the sake of sexualizing people, so I wouldn’t worry about that, Quinn.

I apologize for butting in here, but I think that there’s an excellent way to combine both of these approaches! The pages of the calendar itself could feature the achievements of submissives and Switches in all fields -- since Ariel is a Switch herself, then her page could feature some of her artwork, and a caption could perhaps give more information about the artist. It could show that we are all capable of amazing things, regardless of our mark. If a Dominant model is featured -- since I see Sir Mason wants to be a part of it as well, and we certainly shouldn’t turn away the help of people who want to support us! -- I think that it would be most beneficial for them to work in conjunction with or supporting a submissive or Switch for that month’s page. For example, he could model something designed by my sister or Cordelia -- though I’m not sure that either of them have branched into menswear just yet? Anyway, you’d have to ask them, I’m sure. Of course the entire calendar would feature your excellent photography, but the more achievements we can celebrate, the better!

All that said, I’d be more than happy to contribute to the calendar should you need any writing done for it, and if you happen to have a shortage of models I could perhaps be talked into posing for you.

I happen to agree, Miss. 

As a self-professed “nerd” and ardent pursuer of knowledge in many fields, including the sciences, I was at first pleased that characters with higher than average intelligence and lower than average social skills, with interests quite similar to mine, could be represented in modern media as more than simply side characters and jokes. I adored the fact that “nerd culture,” as it were, could be celebrated rather than mocked and derided. 

And then I watched it. 

It’s appalling. It’s the exact opposite of what it claims to be; I don’t care how many “icons” they have as guest stars, or how many jokes and subplots involve obscure and esoteric pop culture references -- the “nerds” are still the butt of every joke. It operates under the assumption that the audience is identifying with the neighbor rather than the main characters and the nerds are those to be laughed at and pitied for being abnormal; moreover, its treatment of wlw crushes, asexuality, the autism spectrum, queerplatonic relationships, all Switches, neuroatypical people, fat acceptance/body positivity, heteronormativity in general, and so much more is horrifying. And it’s racist. 

I cannot believe that it’s been on the air as long as it has.

I had heard that a great deal of students were less than enthused about the addition of yet another required course to their already-full schedules (myself included, if I’m being honest; I would rather use the slot for a class in which I could learn something new and exciting).

It’s taken me a bit of time debating and being on the fence about this matter, but I think it’s time I finally… do something about this. As you all are aware, I’m in charge of teaching the Dominant remedial class, and while I’m absolutely okay with the class being required to take, my concern is that no Switches are allowed in the class or on the roster. However, I’m making that change to make sure Switches are getting both classes.

While I can’t put your names on the roster without getting into trouble, I will turn a blind eye if Switches happen to sneak into the class to learn. I’m leaving this post open to the Dominants as well in hopes they will turn a blind eye to any Switches coming to this remedial class as well.

This… blind eye will be starting next remedial lesson.

You’re amazing, Sir, and I thank you wholeheartedly for standing up for Switch visibility in a time when we need it most! I refuse to be reduced to merely my submissive side; especially when it’s the Dominant classes that I could most benefit from. Obviously no one even thought about that possibility when they assigned us to these classes; they just shunted us all to the submissive classes as though we’re only meant to be but one part of our full identity.

Are you? I don’t know if we’re in different seminars, but personally I’m finding them incredibly dull and quite honestly, redundant. I’ve certainly never had any difficulty submitting before and I find it frankly insulting that the school -- or perhaps the government? -- thinks that I do simply because I don’t have a claim. Or -- oops, sorry -- am not claimed, since that’s apparently all that matters if one isn’t marked strictly as a Dominant. 

Forgive my bitterness. I don’t mean to take it out on anyone else, but I can’t abide this unnecessary injustice.

Theoretically the designation of a national holiday was intended to bring awareness to the growing inequalities and grievances of the labor force, hence “Labor Day” -- though you wouldn’t know it now, when perhaps we need it more than ever. 

These days it generally heralds the end of summer and the arrival of pumpkin spiced everything.
