Progress towards college:
I have applied to University of North Texas, Texas Tech, Midwestern State, and Savannah College of Art and Design. I want to Major in Graphic Deign and/or entrepreneurship. I have submitted application but haven’t heard back yet. I took the ACT in April of 2016 and scored a 21. I am also currently still applying for scholarships.
Education:
The honors classes I’ve taken throughout high school have been, Geometry, Algebra, and English I, II, III, and IV. These class have really prepared me for college in the way that my teachers are not constantly reminding me of when quizzes are or when home work is due. Teachers in honor came be very strict and they teach you to be independent. I think that taking those honors classes has really taught me good study habits and hoe not to procrastinate.
Elective: American Sign Language
I have been in American sign language (ASL) for 3 years and I’ve been apart of ASL Honor Society for two. I took ASL my sophomore year because I wanted to learn something new and different. I could have taken the easy way out and just tested out of Spanish-since I speak it fluently-but I wanted to challenge myself. In my ASL class, we study Deaf culture and sign. This class has really given me a new perspective of the world and has taught me such a beautiful language. To be in American Sign Language Honor Society students must maintain above a 92 in the class. Students must also participate in ‘Deaf events’, such as Deaf Coffee and Deaf Club. Over the years, My ASL teachers have really pushed me to dive into the culture and see the world through deaf eyes.
About Me: Berenice Reyna
I am a self taught artist. Art has always been on outlet for me-I love being able to make things that looks pleasing to the eye. I am also a perfectionist, so I like things to look aesthetically pleasing. A lot of my artwork you will see has a lot of symmetry and carries the same theme. When I start any new piece, I always use a grid. I love learning different mediums of art- such as sculpture, water color, digital, etc. Art is a nice way to share a part of me with the world.
About Me: Berenice Reyna
I have lived in Texas for 6 years, my family moved to Texas after my dad lost his job in Arizona. Neither one of my parents went to college, I will be first generation. Ever since I was younger, my parents have always pushed me to go to college and work hard. My freshman year of high school I was placed in a yearbook class-I liked it so much that I continued it for 3 years. My senior year has really been-different. I have finally decided what I want to do with my life, I want to study Graphic Design.
Community service:
so, when I use to work at Chick-Fil-A I helped start a social media accounts for something called “Beyond Chikin”. Beyond was something me and a coworker started to help build a good community in the work environment by getting people to interact outside of work. I created a Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and Tumblr. I would spend hours online making sure all platforms of social media were up to date with picture and upcoming events. I made sure everything was professional and branding the organization. Everything was done outside of work. After I left my job there, I pasted down my position to one of my close coworkers and it has been going great. I still talk to the the beyond team and I help them brainstorm ideas for events-I’m basically an adviser now.

These are some spreads I worked on in yearbook. These pages came from the 2015-2016 Plano West Senior High School yearbook. We came up with a rough idea of what the cove would look like in yearbook camp-we ended up using one of my design.
Extracurricular Activity: Yearbook
I was in yearbook for three years and I was an editor for one. My role in yearbook has consisted of taking photos, designing layouts and writing stories and captions. While I was an editor, I lead my staff, edited their spreads ,taught them how to write stories and to take pictures. As a regular staff member I went to as many school events as I could and took as many pictures as I could. Yearbook requires a lot of free time and good communication skills. Over the years yearbook has taught me good communication skills, dedication, how to manage people, and how to create things that are pleasing to the eye. Because of yearbook-I have realized that I want to study graphic design.
