As much as I love the comedic masterpiece that is ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’, I always will mourn the loss of ‘Kingdom of the Sun’

We could have had a Disney Mesoamerican musical epic. It could have been so beautiful, and representation of a culture in the more “serious” Disney canon that is currently not present. A huge group of cultures vastly overlooked in history.

If you haven’t looked into the visual development and history of “Kingdom of the Sun” do so. It is beyond stunning and a shame it was scrapped. “The Emperor’s New Groove” is a brilliant buddy comedy, don’t get me wrong, but this was essentially going to be Disney’s response to “The Prince of Egypt”.

i have been thinking way too much about kingdom of the sun lately for some reason so have this compilation of the little nearly completed scenes it had!

it's particularly interesting to look at yzma's villain song because you can really tell they had a lot of faith in it. it's the one scene they clearly spent the most time on and had almost completed.

also, i cannot stress enough how much i like this art style. yzma's design is still similar to that of the emperor's new groove here, in essence, but it still feels very different. there's something more somber about it while still being a bit experimental for disney - i really like it (manco/kuzco and pacha also looked really cute here imo)

can we please think about people’s opinions about The Trial if depp was the woman and heard the man

yes, their relationship was abusive because of both, but considering this trial was all about defamation and that we don’t have any believable proof that depp physically abused heard (instead there is undeniable proof about heard physically abusing depp, as she said it herself😅) why is there people saying this trial shouldn’t have happened from the beginning and that it’s all depp’s fault? doesn’t he have the right to defend himself from what he says are false accusations (also considering he had serious consequences in his job) and eventually being proven wrong?

will this event have negative consequences on the progress women or anyone else interested fought for in the last years? i’m pretty sure it will, mostly because of people who can elaborate things only as black or white

does it mean depp should have lived with a burden only because of this? well, i would have neither so i don’t think so

does this mean heard deserves to go through hell because of everything we saw and discovered during the trial? absolutely not and people should stop being so evil to someone who obviously has issues, apart from what she’s done

does this mean depp is an angel and heard is the devil who in reality didn't experience any form of abuse during the relationship with depp? not at all

but apart from being angry because of what this means for women who will have to speak up about these things (which is absolutely understandable because yes, probably it will be harder after this -but i don't get how this would be depp's fault-), if you think this trial shouldn’t have existed, if you don’t see the difference in the proofs that both parts presented, just please try to see it from another point of view

and as it seems some people’s opinion on all of this is so based upon their genders and not enough on facts, i suggest you try to switch them and see if your opinion changes

i’m sorry but you can’t manipulate reality to satisfy the ideology you believe in

reality is complex and it doesn’t always fit ideologies

Franco-belgian comic editors: alright, there can be no women in the comics or if there are any, they can’t form a meaningful connection with the male protagonists that spend all their time together, form deep bonds with other men, cry in each other’s arms, would risk their lives for each other’s, treat anytime they’re separated of their male best friend like a break-up and balk at the mere notion of marrying a woman.
